Biography

A student at UCC, Mark started playing football in St. Columba's School Douglas with coach Eddie Murphy, and considers his parents and Eddie to be the strongest influences on his career. His greatest sporting achievements have been winning the All-Ireland U21 FC in 2009 and winning the Sigerson Cup with UCC in 2011. Noel O'Leary and Daniel Goulding are the players he admires most, and his favourite sporting event of all time is the Olympic 100m Final. His typical training week involves two training sessions, a game and a gym session, and his biggest disappointment was losing the All-Ireland Semi-Final to Galway in 2011. If there was a transfer market in football, he would buy Bernard Brogan. Away from sport, Mark likes going out with his friends and going to the cinema, and if there was a film of his life, Morgan Freeman would play the lead role. As a child, he wanted to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and his dream dinner party guests would be James Corden, Rihanna, Lance Armstrong and Roy Keane!
