A student at CIT, Donal Óg first played football aged five in O'Donovan Rossa Park, Skibbereen. The best advice he was ever given was work hard, keep focused and set goals and he believes that the ability to kick pass effectively is the most important skill in football as it speeds up the game. He would like to see the direct pick-up introduced, and his best memory outside of playing is watching his club senior team train and play games when he was a child. As a player, the highlight has been winning West Cork and County U21 titles with his club, which, he says, is always special. The greatest player he has ever seen is Conor McCarthy, and if there was a transfer market, he would buy Michael Murphy. His toughest opponent has been club-mate Alan Tanner, and his favourite sport other than football is golf.
