MONSTER BLITZ SEASON STARTS THIS WEEKEND. In a weekend that promises good weather, young boys all over the county will be playing hurling in the National Dairy Council backed Monster Go Games Blitz Programme. In a series of blitz's arranged by the Cork GDA's, this weekend sees action for over 1,800 young U8 hurlers  throughout the County.

Each week Cork Coaching & Games organise Hurling and Football blitz's aimed at our U8, U9 & U10 in Go Games Format. In a program of events laid out at the start of the year for both Hurling and Football the Cork GDA's have been running these blitz's since the start of March and will continue on until October.

This huge undertaking which see's over a thousand young players taking to the field each week, where young players learn the basic skills and teamwork without the win at all costs pressure that dominates at higher levels. Mind you attending some of these blitz's for the players involved its highly competitive which is great, as its a natural competitive attitude each player brings onto the field without the pressure of having to play to win by mentors and coaches involved. Each month sees a minimum of 1 blitz in each code per age group.

When you take the amount of teams involved, add in mentors, coaches and parents, the number of people you will see on the GAA fields each Saturday is incredible. With the Blitz's starting at  10.00 am and ending at approx 12.00 pm. each team gets to play three matches. The future looks bright for Cork Hurling and Football with these young players starting so well and in such large numbers each week on the GAA fields around Cork.
