SUMMARY:2026 Allianz Football League Division 2 – Cork 0-24 Cavan 2-17
DESCRIPTION:Round 1 – Cork v Cavan\nCork begin their Allianz Football League campaign with a home fixture against Cavan. The Round 1 clash takes place at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. \nAllianz FL D2: Cork finish with a flourish \nCork 0-24 Cavan 2-17 \nReport By Stephen Barry at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh for GAA.ie \nSteven Sherlock curled over a two-point winner as Cork came from seven points behind against Cavan to kick the final eight in a row for a nerve-shredding win at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. \nThe St Finbarr’s star marked his return to competitive inter-county action with a pair of orange flags off the bench to complete a remarkable turnaround. \nThat got Cork out of jail after a poor second-half performance as their Division Two promotion hopes got off the launchpad. \nJohn Cleary made three changes from their McGrath Cup victory over Kerry\, with Kanturk cousins Tommy and Paul Walsh and Brian Hurley introduced. \nDermot McCabe’s first League outing as Cavan manager featured competitive debuts for Corofin’s Ciarán Brady and Peter Corrigan. Paddy Lynch was a late withdrawal\, replaced by Cormac Brady\, but appeared after the break. \nThe fleet-footed visitors shot out of the traps with three points inside three minutes from Oisín Brady\, Dara McVeety\, and Gerard Smith. \nCork steadied as Colm O’Callaghan\, Ruairí Deane\, and Mark Cronin kicked three in response. In between\, they almost had a flag of a different hue. Brian O’Driscoll’s two-point attempt came down off the post before Seán McDonnell collected the rebound and\, eyeing the net\, blasted wide. \nGood defending by Smith prevented a similar chance for Seán Brady as McVeety countered to score. \nCork leapt ahead when McDonnell was given too much time on the arc to launch a two-pointer\, and Cronin extended that advantage. \nBut Cavan were back in front after 16 minutes when Conor Brady handed off O’Callaghan and squared the ball for McVeety to palm in. The Breffnimen led 1-4 to 0-6\, but that would prove their last lead of the half. \nPaul Walsh pointed before Cronin converted the only placed ball of a flowing first period. At the other end\, Ryan Donohoe’s radar was off as he compiled four wides. \nLuke Fahy and Cronin edged Cork two ahead\, but McVeety took his tally to 1-3 and Oisín Brady punished a misdirected kick-out with a smart one-two move from the sideline to curl over. \nHurley had Cork’s last three points of the half\, including a closing two-pointer to make it 0-13 to 1-8 at the break. \nAfter Fahy’s second point\, Cavan flipped the script. As the home crowd grew impatient with Cork’s over elaboration\, the visitors reeled off 1-4 without reply. Gearóid McKiernan came into the game with a point\, a two-point free after Cork failed to hand the ball back\, and a series of kick-out wins. Meanwhile\, McDonnell was denied a goal by Liam Brady. \nCiarán Brady (Arva) struck 1-1 to complete the full set of forwards scoring\, with McVeety sending him through to rattle the net. Niall Carolan came close to another goal when firing over. \nCavan led 2-14 to 0-16 when Ryan Brady was sin-binned\, but they couldn’t initially close the gap. They conceded the next three points\, including a two-point free from Lynch for a 4v3 breach. That 59th-minute conversion would prove their last score. \nThe comeback began with scores from McDonnell\, a Sherlock two-pointer\, and a Cronin mark. \nThat made it a one-score game. Progress continued with a Cronin free before Chris Óg Jones became the sixth starting forward to get off the mark. \nTheir escape was complete when Sherlock was fouled as he attempted to get off a two-point attempt before coming back to curl over the winner. \nCork: Patrick Doyle; Seán Brady\, Daniel O’Mahony\, Tommy Walsh; Brian O’Driscoll\, Rory Maguire\, Luke Fahy; Colm O’Callaghan\, Seán Walsh; Ruairí Deane\, Seán McDonnell\, Paul Walsh; Mark Cronin\, Brian Hurley\, Chris Óg Jones.\nSubs: Matty Taylor for R Maguire (46)\, Dara Sheedy for Deane (48)\, Ian Maguire for S Walsh (48)\, Steven Sherlock for Hurley (53)\, Maurice Shanley for Brady (60). \nCavan: Liam Brady; Jason McLoughlin\, Paddy Meade\, Cormac Brady; Oisín Brady\, Niall Carolan\, Conor Brady; Ciarán Brady (Corofin)\, Ryan Donohoe; Ciarán Brady (Arva)\, Gerard Smith\, Peter Corrigan; Tiarnan Madden; Gearóid McKiernan\, Dara McVeety.\nSubs: Tristan Noack Hofmann for Conor Brady (27-29\, temp)\, Paddy Lynch for Corrigan (43)\, Ryan Brady for Ciarán Brady (Corofin) (48)\, Darragh Lovett for Ciarán Brady (Arva) (60)\, Noack Hofmann for Carolan (66)\, Eoin Clarke for Donohoe (69). \nReferee: Brendan Griffin (Kerry). \n  \n\n\nWho: Cork v Cavan\nWhat: Allianz Football League – Round 1\nWhere: SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh\nWhen: Sunday\, January 25th | 1:30pm\nTickets:\n Buy TicketsClick to Buy Tickets\n\n \n\nSuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh: Football & Hurling League Double-Header

SUMMARY:2026 Hurling League Division 1A – Cork 3-25 Waterford 1-17
DESCRIPTION:Cork v Waterford – Allianz Hurling League Round 1 \n\nAllianz HL D1A: Winning start for Cork \nCork 3-25 Waterford 1-17 \nReport By Stephen Barry at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh for GAA.ie \nThe Ben O’Connor era began in earnest with a free-flowing 14-point demolition of Waterford in front of 20\,464 fans at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. \nThey hadn’t the retired Patrick Horgan or Hurler of the Year nominee Brian Hayes in their ranks\, but a retooled full-forward line still took the Déise for 3-10. \nDebutant William Buckley notched 1-4\, which was matched by the repositioned Declan Dalton\, among 10 different scorers. \nHaving excused them from Munster Hurling League duty\, O’Connor called upon 10 of last year’s All-Ireland final team to start his first competitive game as manager. As well as Buckley\, Alan Walsh and Hugh O’Connor received their debuts off the bench. Dáire O’Leary began at full-back on his return to the panel. \nPeter Queally gave debuts to Daniel Lalor\, Seán Mackey\, and James Power. They lost further experience with Jack Fagan limping off in the opening exchanges\, replaced by Joe Booth. Reuben Halloran was their standout performer with 0-13\, including three from play. \nWaterford were utterly outmatched from the off as Cork scored nine points from their first nine shots inside nine minutes. They made it 10 without a miss before the wides began to kick in\, ending with 12 in total. Dalton lined out at full-forward and opened the scoring. He would contribute 1-4 and assist just as much. \nJamie Barron was the only Waterford hurler to score from play in the opening stretch\, splitting the posts in the third and 17th minutes. \nIn between\, Cork kept piling on the scores. Shane Barrett was given the freedom of the Páirc as he roamed from centre-forward for three quickfire points. Darragh Fitzgibbon\, Diarmuid Healy\, Buckley\, and Alan Connolly also got off the mark. \nSeán Walsh got off a shot on goal at the other end\, which Patrick Collins stood tall to save. \nDalton was already on four points from play before he gave Conor Keane the slip and batted across the goal for Connolly to tap in. 1-11 to 0-3 after 18 minutes. Fitzgibbon\, Buckley\, and Healy tacked on the next trio for a 14-point lead. \n\nAlan Connolly scores Cork’s first goal \n\n  \n\nDarragh Lyons and Halloran gave Déise supporters something to cheer. But things went from bad to worse when Mark Fitzgerald dragged down Brian Roche. After consulting with his umpires\, Johnny Murphy produced the black card and awarded a penalty\, which Dalton rocketed into the top corner. \nThey led 2-16 to 0-9 at half-time\, although Waterford broke even during the 10 minutes they were reduced to 14 men (1-1 to 0-4). \n\nDeclan Dalton goal for Cork from a penalty \n\n  \n\nMackey was denied a debut goal\, but when Halloran was fouled by Robert Downey\, Murphy reached for his black card and gave a penalty. Shane Bennett came forward from the half-backs to drill it low to the net. \nIn the next play\, Alan Walsh intercepted a pass and Connolly fed Buckley\, whose one-handed swing beat the advancing keeper. They led 3-19 to 1-11 as Bennett’s next free was saved on the goalline. Again\, the black-card period ended up tied\, 1-2 apiece. \nThey split the final eight points between them before Seán Walsh was sent off in stoppage time\, with Murphy indicating interference with the face guard. \n\n  \nDeclan Dalton of Cork scores his side’s second goal\, a penalty\, during the Allianz Hurling League Division 1A match between Cork and Waterford at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork.
