A Community Rallies: Stand for Féile Golf Classic to Support a Brave West Cork Teen

In April 2026, the GAA community of Cork and Kerry will unite in an extraordinary display of solidarity — not on a pitch, but across the fairways of Kenmare Golf Club. On April 17th and 18th, more than 100 teams are expected to tee off in the Stand for Féile Golf Classic, a two-day fundraiser supporting the ongoing recovery of Féile O’Sullivan, a courageous teenager from Allihies, West Cork.
Last July, Féile’s life changed forever when she suffered devastating injuries in a farming accident. Since then, she has been receiving specialist treatment in CHI Crumlin, facing surgeries, intensive rehabilitation, and an entirely new way of living. The emotional and financial strain on her family has been immense — but the response from the GAA community has been powerful.

The idea for the Golf Classic began with a simple conversation between former Cork and Kerry inter-county players, who felt compelled to help. From there, it quickly grew into a major fundraising effort.
Barry Coffey, Chair of the Organising Committee, recalls how quickly the support gathered momentum:
“I reached out to the main organising committee following a conversation between a number of former inter-county GAA players from both Cork and Kerry. I then approached Cork GAA, who backed the initiative 100% and fully embraced the opportunity to support it.
Over the two days, we will welcome more than 100 teams, and we are delighted to have clubs from both Cork and Kerry taking part. We are also extremely grateful to Cork County Board for their support, including their generous contribution of All-Ireland Final tickets as the first prize in this fundraising event.”
The Cork GAA leadership has strongly endorsed the event, acknowledging both the hardship faced by the O’Sullivan family and the strength of community spirit driving the campaign.
Pat Horgan, Cork County Board Chairman, shared his support:
“The entire Cork GAA community has been deeply affected by the terrible ordeal that Féile and her family have faced. We are all determined to help in any way we can. I hope the O’Sullivan family will be heartened by the great support this Golf Classic will garner as we all keep Féile in our thoughts and prayers.”
Cork GAA CEO Kevin O’Donovan echoed that sentiment:
“The wider GAA family can always be depended on to show support and solidarity to those among us who need it most. Féile and the O’Sullivan family need our help now. This initiative, drawing on support from Cork and Kerry, will be a significant driver in raising much-needed funds to help them through the tough days ahead.”

November 24, 2025 – Zach Bryan is set to embark on his biggest international tour yet: With Heaven On Tour, a US and European run of dates kicking off March 7, 2026 in St. Louis, MO at The Dome at America’s Center. The tour spans over 40 dates across North America and Europe and includes two dates in Cork, Páirc Uí Chaoimh Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st June 2026 (subject to licence) and two in Belfast, Boucher Road 23rd & 24th June 2026. The supports on these dates will be Dijon (main support) and Fey Fili (opener).

Kilshannig Crowned JAHC Champions After Dominant Second Half

After a disappointing final defeat in 2022, Kilshannig ended their wait for county glory by cruising past Ballinora to lift the Cork Junior A Hurling Championship title at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday. The victory secures their promotion to the fifth tier.
The Avondhu champions led for almost the entire game, but the contest was effectively settled midway through the second half. Kilshannig were only three points ahead (0-12 to 0-9) in the 44th minute before Cork senior footballer Éanna O’Hanlon found the breakthrough. His 45th-minute shot took an awkward bounce to deceive the goalkeeper and hit the net, stretching the lead to six.
From that point, the momentum was all Kilshannig’s. Man-of-the-match Kieran Twomey was outstanding at wing-back, scoring three points and converting a ’65, while O’Hanlon’s goal was followed by a scoring burst that put the game out of reach. Ballinora, who had 13 wides, could not find any rhythm or answer to the pressure, as Kilshannig continued to force turnovers and reel off points.
Kilshannig’s comfortable 1-19 to 0-11 win was fully deserved, concluding their 2025 season as county champions.

In a historic day for the Carbery club, Kilmacabea came from behind to defeat Donoughmore and claim their first-ever McCarthy Insurance Group County JAFC title at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday evening.
Despite persistent heavy rain affecting the quality of the football, the final was packed with excitement and endeavour. Donoughmore made the stronger start, leading 1-4 to 0-5 at the break thanks to a brilliant first-half goal from Gavin O’Sullivan.
The second half was dominated by the eventual winners. A crucial goal midway through from substitute Ray Shanahan swung the momentum and gave Kilmacabea the platform they needed to kick on. Heroes like Ian Jennings and Martin Collins were outstanding as the Carbery side outscored their opponents heavily in the second 30 minutes.
Kilmacabea’s hard work and collective grit paid off, securing a fully deserved seven-point victory. The final whistle sparked joyful celebrations as they lifted the championship cup.
