Appealing Ties in McCarthy Insurance Group Premier Senior Football Championship;
Action in the Cork GAA Premier Senior Football Championship gets underway on Friday 27th September with the first of three Quarter Final Ties.
Pairc Ui Rinn host the St Finbarrs v Ballincollig tie at 7.45pm. St Finbarrs opened championship 2024 with victory over Valley Rovers before going under to Mallow and securing their quarter final place with victory over Douglas.
Ballincollig for their part lost to Nemo Rangers in the opening round before edging Newcestown in round 2 and defeating near neighbours, Eire Og last time out;
Sunday 29th September sees the remaining quarter finals along with the relegation play-off.
Bandon houses the Quarter Final tie involving Nemo Rangers & Clonakilty with a 2.15pm start. City side, Nemo are the only team to take full points from their three group games defeating Ballincollig, Eire Og & Newcestown while Clonakilty recovered from an opening defeat to Castlehaven to share the spoils with Carbery Rangers and record a big victory over St Michaels.
Indeed Bandon has a doubleheader, hosting the Relegation play off between Carbery Rangers & Eire Og at 4pm. Carbery Rangers gained one league point in the group stages drawing with neighbours Clonakily between defeats at the hands of St Michaels and Castlehaven. For their part, Eire Og suffered defeat to Newcestown, Nemo and Ballincollig.
The remaining McCarthy Insurance Group Quarter Final is listed for Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday 29th September with Mallow facing Muskerry at 4pm. Mallow drew with Valley Rovers before surprising St Finbarrs in round two and lost out to Douglas last time out. Muskerry, for their part had to withstand a Duhallow fightback in the Divisional/Colleges final at Macroom.
