One Cork Players Golf Classic – Fota Island, 20th August 2025

Cork GAA is proud to announce the One Cork Players Golf Classic, taking place at the prestigious Fota Island Golf Resort on Wednesday, 20th August 2025.

This exciting new event marks the beginning of a three-year partnership with the O’Connell Group, whose generous support has helped bring this initiative to life. The Golf Classic is a key fundraiser for Cork’s Senior Inter-County teams and reflects the One Cork mission — uniting supporters at home and abroad to elevate Cork GAA to even greater heights.

The launch event at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh saw players Daniel O’Mahony and Robert Downey, along with managers John Cleary and Pat Ryan, speak passionately about what Cork GAA means to them. Also in attendance were representatives from Fota Island Golf Club, O’Connell Group, Cork GAA, and One Cork.

One Cork Players Golf Classic, Fota Island 20th August 2025
Cork GAA this week launched its One Cork Golf Classic, which will take place on 20th August at Fota Island. This year’s event is the first in a three-year partnership that has been secured with the support of O’Connell Group, and signals the commitment shown by One Cork to promoting Cork GAA and the efforts of the county’s flagship Senior teams in inter county competition.
The launch event in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh was attended by Cork Senior team members Daniel O’Mahony and Robert Downey, and managers John Cleary and Pat Ryan, as well as representatives from Fota Island Golf Club, sponsors O’Connell Group, Cork GAA and One Cork.  One Cork brings together supporters of Cork GAA at home and abroad with the aim of promoting and resourcing Cork teams to compete and achieve at the highest level and to celebrate Cork’s unique GAA tradition.
Speaking at the event, Cork GAA chairperson Pat Horgan welcomed the initiative, and lauded One Cork’s support, noting that ‘the Golf Classic at Fota Island highlights the best in Cork’s sporting tradition. ‘Fota Island is one of the pe-eminent golf facilities in the country. Its status and ambitions match our determination to make our senior teams the best in the country too, and I am delighted to welcome this new initiative. The event on 20th August will demonstrate the great goodwill that exists for Cork GAA and especially our senior hurling and football teams. I also welcome the support of our sponsors O’Connell Group.’
