Premier Senior Hurling Championship – Semi-Finals Taking Shape
The Co-Op Superstores Premier Senior Hurling Championship is reaching its climax, with the quarter-finals serving up a series of hard-fought contests that have set the stage for two fascinating semi-finals.
Sarsfields got the better of Charleville in a competitive affair, their greater scoring spread proving decisive as they ran out winners on a 0-22 to 1-15 scoreline. Midleton and Glen Rovers produced one of the games of the season, a high-intensity clash that went right down to the wire, with Midleton just edging it 2-19 to 2-17. St. Finbarr’s, meanwhile, looked in ruthless form, hitting three goals to pull clear of Imokilly and securing a 3-16 to 1-12 victory.
Those results now see Blackrock face Midleton in the first semi-final, while Sarsfields will lock horns with St. Finbarr’s in the second. Both ties are set to take place in SuperValu Páirc Ui Chaoimh in two weeks time with dates and times to be confirmed on Sunday evening by Cork GAA CCC
At the other end of the championship, the relegation play-off between Erin’s Own and Newtownshandrum ended in dramatic fashion. After a thrilling battle that produced a final score of 4-15 to 2-21, the sides could not be separated. The contest will now go to a replay, with fixture details to be confirmed.
