This Sunday, October 5th, all eyes will be on SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh for a massive Co-op Superstores Premier Senior Hurling Championship semi-final double-header. Two heavyweight clashes are set for the day: Blackrock take on Midleton at 2:00 PM, followed by Sarsfields against St Finbarr’s at 3:45 PM.
Four of Cork’s traditional hurling powerhouses have battled their way through group stages and quarter-finals to reach this point — here’s how each team made it to Super Sunday.

Semi-Final 1: Blackrock vs Midleton
Venue: SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh
Time: Sunday, October 5th – 2:00 PM
Blackrock’s Path
Blackrock opened their campaign with a solid 1-20 (23) to 0-18 (18) win over Kanturk. They were beaten in Round 2 by a strong St Finbarr’s side, 2-25 (31) to 2-14 (20), but bounced back emphatically in Round 3 with a huge 0-33 (33) to 0-11 (11) victory over Douglas. Their two group wins were enough to secure a direct semi-final spot.

Midleton’s Path
Midleton had a strong group stage, beginning with a 0-24 (24) to 0-19 (19) win over Newtownshandrum. Round 2 saw them fall to Newcestown by 3-21 (30) to 1-20 (23), but they hit back in Round 3 with a powerful 1-23 (26) to 1-14 (17) victory over Charleville. Into the quarter-finals, they edged a thriller against Glen Rovers, winning 2-19 (25) to 2-17 (23) to book their semi-final place.

Semi-Final 2: Sarsfields vs St Finbarr’s
Venue: SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh
Time: Sunday, October 5th – 3:45 PM
Sarsfields’ Path
Sarsfields have looked in top form throughout the championship. They began with a dominant 1-28 (31) to 1-14 (17) win over Fr O’Neill’s, and followed it up with a 4-30 (42) to 3-15 (24) shootout victory against Erin’s Own. In Round 3, they faced Glen Rovers and came out on top 2-23 (29) to 2-19 (25). Carrying that momentum into the quarter-finals, they defeated Charleville 0-22 (22) to 1-15 (18), sealing a semi-final showdown with the Barrs.

St Finbarr’s Path
The Barrs sent out a strong statement in Round 1 with a 1-25 (28) to 0-19 (19) win over Douglas. They backed it up with another big result against Blackrock, winning 2-25 (31) to 2-14 (20). Round 3 saw them defeat Kanturk 0-25 (25) to 1-17 (20) to top their group and qualify directly for the semi-finals. With three wins from three, the Togher men arrive at Páirc Uí Chaoimh unbeaten and full of confidence.
