Heartbreak for Cork as Tipp Surge Ends Minor Dream

Cork’s Electric Ireland All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship campaign came to a cruel end at the TUS Gaelic Grounds as Tipperary produced a devastating late comeback to claim a 5-18 to 2-19 victory.

The Rebels looked in control for long periods and appeared on course for a place in the All-Ireland final when Bobby Power’s second goal helped establish a four-point lead entering the final quarter. Power was outstanding throughout, finishing with 2-8, while Sam McCarthy, Seán Riordan and Ryan Cagney also made important contributions.

Cork had battled impressively against the wind in the opening half, with Power’s first goal helping them build an early advantage. Despite conceding two quick Tipperary goals, the Rebels responded strongly and remained firmly in contention at the break.

When Power rifled home a superb second goal midway through the second half, Cork seized the momentum and moved four points clear. However, Tipperary responded ruthlessly. Inspired by the outstanding Chris Dunne, who finished with 3-5, the Premier County struck three late goals to turn the contest on its head.

Despite battling until the final whistle and narrowing the gap on several occasions, Cork could not halt Tipp’s momentum as their hopes of All-Ireland glory slipped away.
