Friday night’s Co-Op SuperStores championship action produced drama across both the Premier SHC and Intermediate A Hurling Championship.

Newtownshandrum came from seven points down to earn a deserved 2-16 to 0-22 draw with Douglas in Ballyhooly, with Jamie Coughlan hitting 1-12, including a late equalising free, while Shane Kingston scored 0-11 for Douglas.

At Páirc Uí Rinn, Midleton opened their Premier SHC campaign in impressive fashion, defeating St Finbarr’s 0-25 to 0-17. Conor Lehane led the scoring with 0-9 and Killian McDermott added 0-6 as Midleton stayed in control throughout.

In the Co-Op Superstores Intermediate A Hurling Championship, Aghada and Bandon shared the spoils in a thrilling 1-24 to 2-21 draw at Church Road. Jamie O’Hanlon scored Aghada’s goal, while Jack Cullinane struck both goals for Bandon in an entertaining and high-scoring encounter.
