Imokilly beat UCC in Championship College/Divisions Semi-Final

Imokilly produced a powerful second-half display to defeat UCC by 4-26 to 0-19 in their Premier SHC divisional clash in Midleton on Wednesday night. The east Cork side made a clinical start despite playing against a strong breeze, with early goals from Dungourney pair Jack Leahy and Cillian O’Callaghan helping them into a 2-11 to 0-12 half-time lead. UCC stayed in touch through the scoring of Hugh O’Connor, but Imokilly took complete control after the restart.

A run of six unanswered points stretched the advantage before O’Callaghan struck his second goal of the evening. Leahy added another major as Imokilly’s pace, movement and long-range shooting proved too much for the college side. Eleven different players got on the scoresheet for the divisional outfit, underlining their attacking depth. The victory sends Imokilly through to face the winners of Muskerry and Seandún for a place in the championship proper.
