Electric Ireland GAA Minor Star Football Team of the Year

Electric Ireland, proud sponsor of the Electric Ireland GAA Minor Championships, has announced the 2026 Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Team of the Year and the Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year following another thrilling championship campaign.

Cork were one of the standout teams of the season. The Rebels produced an impressive performance in the All-Ireland semi-final, overcoming a talented Derry side despite conceding two early goals and showing the character that would define their campaign.

That resilience was on full display again in the final against defending champions Tyrone at St Conleth’s Park in Newbridge. Trailing 1-13 to 0-7 with 39 minutes played, Cork mounted a remarkable comeback, scoring an unanswered 1-5. A crucial goal from Carrigaline’s Eoghan Ahern sparked the revival as the Rebels surged to their first All-Ireland minor football title in seven years.

Reflecting Cork’s championship triumph, seven Rebels have been selected on the 2026 Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Team of the Year:

  • Rory Twohig (Kilmeen)

  • Aaron O’Sullivan (Glanmire)

  • Éanna Lynch (Ballincollig)

  • Kieran O’Shea (Urhan)

  • Eoghan Ahern (Carrigaline)

  • Joe Miskella (Ballincollig)

  • Tom Whooley (Clonakilty)

The county’s dominance is further underlined by the announcement that Joe Miskella has been named the 2026 Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year.

The Ballincollig forward was a driving force behind Cork’s All-Ireland success, combining leadership, work-rate and scoring power throughout the campaign. He delivered a captain’s performance in the final, kicking two vital two-pointers and helping to inspire one of the great minor championship comebacks.

For Cork football, the awards are recognition of an exceptional group of players and management who have brought the All-Ireland title back to the county and provided exciting hope for the future of the Rebels.
