Cork GAA Post Primary 2026/27: Schools Ready for a New Year of Competition

The 2026/27 school year promises another exciting season of Gaelic Games across Cork, with schools from every corner of the county preparing to take part in a packed programme of Post Primary GAA competitions.

From Senior level through to U16 and U14, schools will compete across a wide range of football and hurling grades, providing hundreds of students with the opportunity to represent their school, develop their skills and experience the excitement of competitive GAA.

The Cork Post Primary programme continues to provide a pathway for players of all abilities, with competitions ranging from Senior A through to Development grades, as well as extensive U16 and U14 competitions.

A County-Wide Programme

The 2026/27 competitions will see 55 schools represented across the calendar, with schools from Cork City, East Cork, West Cork, North Cork and South Cork all involved.

We will also have Blackwater School, Waterford, who feature in the U14 A Hurling competition, adding an inter-county dimension to the programme.

Football and Hurling Across Every Age Group

At Senior level, schools will compete in Senior A, B, C, D and E Football and Hurling, ensuring a strong and varied programme throughout the school year.

The U16 programme will feature A, B, C, D and E grades in both football and hurling, while the U14 competitions will provide another extensive programme of football and hurling for younger players.

This structure allows schools to compete at an appropriate level while giving students the opportunity to progress through the grades and gain valuable competitive experience.

Building the Next Generation

Post Primary GAA plays a hugely important role in the development of young players throughout Cork.

For many students, school competitions provide their first experience of representative competition outside their club. They also offer an opportunity for students from different clubs and communities to come together and play alongside each other.

The 2026/27 season will once again see teachers, coaches, referees, volunteers and school communities come together to make the competitions possible.

With fixtures running throughout the school year, there will be plenty of opportunities to follow the action, celebrate school achievements and showcase the next generation of Cork footballers and hurlers.
