The fourth County Committee Meeting of the year took place on Tuesday, April 2nd at SuperValu Pairc Uí Chaoimh.

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.

Management Committee

The reporting, including Inter-County transfers, gradings and suspensions, was approved.

  

Games Administration

 CCC

The McCarthy Insurance Group Football Leagues and RedFM Hurling Leagues are under way. Some games were postponed recently due to the poor weather.

In response to a question from the floor, it was agreed to seek further information on the relative terms of the current split season and inter-county championship formats.

 

Club Tickets

Tickets for the upcoming Munster Senior Hurling Championship will be distributed to clubs in the coming days.

 

Club Developments Approved

Ballyclough; purchasing of 3 acres of land.

St. Michael’s; bank borrowing of €30,000 for irrigation system.

Russell Rovers; bank borrowing of €51,250 to complete 4G facility.

Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh; bank borrowing €100,000 for construction of a gym facility.

Kilworth; borrowing of €340,000 in total for construction of a new dressing room complex.

Games Development

Monthly Club meetings with the GDC’s continue. All meetings begin at 7.30pm. Every club in each region is asked to have two representatives in attendance.

Introduction to Performance Analysis

An ‘Introduction to Performance Analysis’ course is set to take place on April 13th, 2024, from 9:30am to 3:30pm at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

One Cork Worldwide

A significant corporate fundraising event will take place on Friday, April 26th at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road featuring legends of Cork’s recent past, business leaders and those involved with our teams currently.

Tables can be purchased for €1,750 each. Single seats are also available for €175.

The One Cork Golf Classic is due to take place in the Old Head on Tuesday, April 9th,  is fully sold out.

Rebels’ Bounty

The Cathaoirleach thanked all clubs for their efforts in promotion and selling Rebels’ Bounty tickets. It was a great success, with a further increase on entries from 2023, to almost 30,000 members.

Facilities Report

 EIA Report – Munster v Crusaders

The Rúnaí gave details of the recently published Economic Impact Assessment report commissioned by Munster Rugby following the Munster v Crusaders game which took place on February 3rd at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The Rúnaí noted that the report highlighted the economic value of sell-out games in the stadium for the entire City.

Key findings;

  • 40,885 – attendance.
  • €3.7 million – Total EI generated by non-local attendees.
  • €2.7 million – Total direct expenditure generated by non-local attendees.
  • €2.9 million – Total direct expenditure by Cork City & County attendees.
  • €5.6 million – Total direct expenditure generated by all attendees.
  • €76 – Average spend per head by day trippers to the game.
  • €223 – Average overnight spectator spend per night.

 Páirc Uí Rinn will be closed for the remainder of April to allow for annual maintenance work to take place.

SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh faces into its busiest period of the year, with many games taking place over the coming weeks.

Depending on permutations under the recently agreed rota, the stadium may host the Munster Senior Hurling Final on June 9th.

 Central Council Report

In the absence of delegate Marc Sheehan, the Rúnaí gave details of the most recent Central Council meeting.

A derogation from Rule is no longer required for our Club Championships following the passing of a motion allowing Counties with Divisional teams to play off, before entering the Championship proper at a later stage.

Permission was also granted for SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh to host Munster Rugby’s home semi-final in the European Champions Cup on the weekend of May 5th, should fixture permutations follow.

 Munster Council Report

 Munster Delegate Joe Blake gave his report on the most recent Munster Council meeting.

Various items were outlined, including ticket prices, club grants, championship regulations and programmes.

 

Any Other Business

The Rúnaí indicated that the Bye-law Review subcommittee hope present their recommendations to the County Management Committee at its next meeting, with issues such as terms of offices and the makeup of various committees to be considered.

If delegates are favourable to change at next County Committee meeting and motions will be put to the Special Convention ahead of the June County Committee meeting for decision.
