Half time: Erin’s Own 1-8 (11) Carrigtwohill 0-10 (10)

Erin’s Own are back in Premier Senior hurling at the first attempt. Relegated a year ago, the three-time county senior champions finished the Senior A campaign unbeaten and lifted the Jim Forbes Cup after a five-point win in the East Cork derby.

The decisive score came early. In the third minute, Finn O’Brien set up Maurice O’Carroll for the game’s only goal. Erin’s Own lost Robbie O’Flynn to injury on 15 minutes, and Carrigtwohill worked their way back into it, with Aaron Walsh Barry sweeping in defence and Matthew Barrett’s free-taking keeping them in touch. They were level by the 23rd minute, but Erin’s Own never trailed and led by a point at half time.

Erin’s Own were 1-12 to 0-12 ahead after 48 minutes, with Carrigtwohill hitting seven second-half wides by then. Conor Lenihan’s frees pushed the lead out to five. Justin Oke’s point cut it to four with nine minutes left, and two late Barrett frees kept Carrigtwohill hoping. Matty O’Riordan and P O’Shea then pushed Erin’s Own clear. Carrigtwohill goalkeeper Shane Devlin made a late save from substitute Shane Irwin.

Lenihan finished with 0-8 and O’Riordan with 0-5 from play. For Carrigtwohill, James Mulcahy hit 0-6 and Barrett 0-5.
