Blackrock and Midleton to meet again in Cork ETB Premier 1 Minor Hurling Final

The Cork ETB Premier 1 Minor Hurling Championship final will go to a replay on Monday evening as Blackrock and Midleton meet again at Dungourney, with throw-in at 7:30pm.

There was nothing to separate the sides when they met in the original decider at Páirc Uí Rinn, with the game finishing Midleton 2-17 Blackrock 1-20 after a dramatic finish.

Midleton had built a five-point advantage during the game and looked to have done enough to claim the title, but Blackrock produced a determined second-half comeback to bring the sides level.

The Rockies continued to battle for every score as the game entered its closing stages, with Michael Quill’s late equaliser ensuring that the two sides could not be separated and forcing a replay.

It means another chapter will be added to what has already been a closely contested final, with both teams now facing into a second opportunity to secure the Cork ETB Premier 1 Minor Hurling Championship title.

The replay takes place at Dungourney on Monday, October 5, at 7:30pm, with Winner on the Day rules applying.

There will be a result on Monday night, with the championship trophy set to find its destination following what promises to be another exciting meeting between two of Cork’s leading minor hurling teams.
