Senior ‘A’ HC League Phase Comes to a Close

The final round of the Co-Op Superstores Senior ‘A’ Hurling Championship league phase delivered a series of important results as teams completed their campaign.

Blarney finished strongly with a 0-22 to 1-14 victory over Watergrasshill, while Castlelyons recorded an impressive 3-23 to 0-19 win against Ballyhea.

There was a share of the spoils between Carrigtwohill and Ballinhassig, who finished level on 1-17 apiece, while Erin’s Own overcame Fermoy by 3-16 to 0-19.

Courcey Rovers ended the league phase with a 1-23 to 1-16 win over Inniscarra, and Na Piarsaigh closed out their campaign with a 1-27 to 1-17 victory over Killeagh.

With the final round now complete, attention turns to the knockout stages, with the league positions deciding who advances and who faces the next challenge in the championship.

Premier JHC knockout stages take shape

The knockout picture is now set in the Co-Op Superstores Premier Junior Hurling Championship, with the race for county honours entering the business end of the competition.

Barryroe will face Cloughduv in Quarter-Final A, with the winners progressing to meet St Catherine’s in the semi-final. On the other side of the draw, Argideen Rangers take on Ballygarvan in Quarter-Final B, with Kilshannig awaiting the winners.

The two semi-final winners will then battle it out for the Premier JHC title, while Milford and Nemo Rangers will meet in the relegation final.

Co-Op Superstores Premier JHC Round-Up

The latest round of the Co-Op Superstores Premier Junior Hurling Championship produced six competitive games, with several closely fought encounters and some impressive scoring performances.

Argideen Rangers came out on top against St Finbarr’s, winning by 4-16 to 2-13.

There was a thrilling finish between Ballygarvan and Kilshannig, with Kilshannig edging a high-scoring contest by just one point, 2-23 to 2-22.

Cloughduv recorded a comfortable victory over Milford, finishing 0-20 to 0-12, while Nemo Rangers got the better of Glen Rovers on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-16.

Mayfield also secured victory, overcoming Barryroe by 1-21 to 1-18.

In the final game, St Catherine’s defeated Tracton by 0-16 to 0-14 in another closely contested encounter.

Premier JHC Group Stages Complete as Knockout Places Confirmed

The Co-Op Superstores Premier Junior Hurling Championship group stages are now complete, with the final standings determining the clubs that progress to the knockout stages.

Kilshannig finished top of Group A with 6 points and a scoring difference of +19, with Ballygarvan also progressing after finishing on 3 points. Glen Rovers and Nemo Rangers completed the Group A standings.

In Group B, St Catherine’s topped the table with a perfect 6 points and a scoring difference of +11. Cloughduv, Tracton and Milford all finished on 2 points, with the final standings determining the remaining qualification places.

Group C proved closely contested, with Barryroe and Argideen Rangers finishing level on 4 points. Argideen Rangers had the superior scoring difference of +15, compared with +10 for Barryroe. St Finbarr’s and Mayfield both finished on 2 points.

With the group phase now concluded, attention turns to the knockout stages, with the successful clubs beginning their journey towards the Co-Op Superstores Premier JHC final.

Co-Op Superstores Senior ‘A’ Hurling Championship

Round 3 of the Co-Op Superstores Senior ‘A’ Hurling Championship takes centre stage this Saturday, September 5, with six fixtures scheduled across Cork, all throwing in at 5:30pm.

With the championship reaching an important stage, every result could have a major bearing on the race for the knockout places, with clubs looking to put themselves in a strong position heading into the final round.

Blarney face Watergrasshill in Grenagh, while Castlelyons meet Ballyhea in Mallow. In Rathcormac, Erin’s Own take on Fermoy, with Inniscarra and Courcey Rovers meeting in Carrigaline.

There is also an East Cork clash in Midleton as Killeagh face Na Piarsaigh, while Carrigtwohill and Ballinhassig meet at Páirc Uí Rinn.
