The 2026 McCarthy Insurance Group Cork County Football Championships were officially launched at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, with representatives from Cork GAA, McCarthy Insurance Group and the six clubs who captured county championship titles in 2025 coming together to mark the beginning of another exciting championship season.
As clubs across Cork prepare to begin their championship campaigns, anticipation is building for another year of competitive football across every grade.

Looking ahead to the new season, McCarthy Insurance Group CEO Brendan Harrington said:

Cork GAA Chairperson Pat Horgan acknowledged the continued support of the championship sponsors.

We are greatly encouraged by the tremendous success of our minor football team who have given a welcome boost to all Cork GAA supporters.”
Looking Ahead to Championship 2026
Cork GAA CEO/Secretary Kevin O’Donovan highlighted the strength and competitiveness of the county championships.
“Our county football championships are structured across several grades, which allows for very competitive games and allow for teams from all parts of the county to meet and strive for success.
At intercounty level, our senior footballers achieved promotion to Division 1 of the National League, while both they and our U20s enjoyed notable championship runs in the summer. On top of this, our minors achieved All-Ireland glory, crowning a terrific year, and we look forward to these advances being evident in our club championships, generously supported by McCarthy Insurance Group.”

County Junior A Hurling League Final Preview
County Junior A Hurling League Final Preview
The County Junior A Hurling League Final takes place on Saturday, July 18, as Ballyhooly face Donoughmore in Ballinlough, with throw-in at 6.00pm.
Ballyhooly secured their place in the final with victories over Ballinhassig and Cobh, while Donoughmore reached the decider after defeating Whitechurch in the semi-final.
After topping their respective divisional leagues and progressing through the knockout stages, Ballyhooly and Donoughmore now go head-to-head for the County Junior A Hurling League title.

County Junior A Football League Final Preview
The County Junior A Football League Final takes place on Saturday, July 18, as Barryroe face Charleville in St. Vincent’s GAA Grounds, with throw-in at 7.30pm.
Barryroe booked their place in the final with a semi-final win over Grenagh, while Charleville overcame Carrigaline to reach the decider.
After topping their respective divisional leagues and progressing through the knockout stages, Barryroe and Charleville now go head-to-head for the County Junior A Football League title.

Everyone in Cork GAA extends our very best wishes to Colm Lyons (Nemo Rangers) as he takes charge of the 2026 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship Final between Galway and Limerick in Croke Park on Sunday, July 19.
This will be Colm’s second All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final as referee, having previously officiated the 2022 decider between Limerick and Kilkenny. One of the country’s most respected officials, Colm has also refereed the All-Ireland Minor Final, National Hurling League Final, Leinster and Munster Senior Hurling Finals, and two All-Ireland Senior Club Finals during an outstanding refereeing career.
The 2026 final marks another significant milestone, as it will be Colm’s 39th Liam MacCarthy Cup championship match since making his senior championship debut in 2012.
Joining Colm on the day will be his score umpire team of Ciarán Hanley (Brian Dillons), Jim McEvoy (Blarney), Philip Mackey (Nemo Rangers) and Finian Mullane (Nemo Rangers). Wexford’s James Owens and Dublin’s Chris Mooney will serve as line umpires, with Owens also acting as standby referee. Niall Malone (Clare) will be the sideline official, while David Grogan (Tipperary) will oversee Hawkeye duties.
Everyone in Cork GAA wishes Colm and his officiating team every success on what is a tremendous honour for both him and Cork refereeing.
