Cork GAA Calls on Clubs Across the County to Support Third Annual Community Clean Up Day

Event to take place on Saturday, April 11th 2026

Cork GAA has announced details of its third annual Community Clean Up Day, which will take place on Saturday, April 11th 2026. Now entering its third year, the initiative continues to position Cork GAA as a national leader in sustainability within the Association.

The event forms part of An Taisce’s National Spring Clean month and continues to grow as one of the largest coordinated county-wide clean-up efforts undertaken by a GAA County Board.

Building on the strong participation in previous years, which saw thousands of volunteers from clubs across Cork collect significant volumes of litter from roadsides, parks, walkways, beaches and community spaces, Cork GAA is encouraging even greater involvement in 2026.

The Clean Up Day will once again be supported by valued partners An Taisce, Tidy Towns, SuperValu, Cork County Council and Cork City Council, highlighting the strength of collaboration across the county in delivering meaningful environmental impact.

SuperValu, a valued and active supporter of both the Tidy Towns competition and Cork GAA, and proud sponsor of Páirc Uí Chaoimh, continues to play an important role in championing environmental initiatives that strengthen communities across Cork.

Clubs representing hurling, football, camogie and ladies football are invited to take part, with members of all ages encouraged to work together with neighbours, local groups and residents to make a visible difference in their communities.

Equipment including gloves, bags and high-visibility vests will be available to participating clubs through An Taisce to assist with the collection and proper disposal of waste gathered on the day. Beyond the immediate environmental impact, the initiative continues to build stronger links between clubs and their local communities, with underage teams and families playing a particularly visible role in previous years.

Remembering John Mullins

This year’s event will also carry special significance as Cork GAA remembers the late John Mullins, a founding member of the Cork GAA Sustainability Committee and a driving force behind the establishment of the Community Clean Up Day.

John’s leadership, energy and belief in the power of collective action were instrumental in launching the initiative, and his legacy continues through the thousands of volunteers who give their time each year to improve their local communities.

Enda Buckley, Cork GAA County Sustainability Officer, said:

“Cork GAA’s Community Clean Up Day has become a key pillar of our Sustainability Vision. It reflects the role our clubs play not only as centres of sporting excellence but also as leaders within their communities.

Each year we see extraordinary volunteerism across all age groups, with players and families taking real pride in improving their local environment.

As we gather again on April 11th, we also remember John Mullins, whose vision and commitment helped establish this initiative. The best tribute we can pay is to continue growing this movement and strengthening the positive impact our clubs have across the county.”

The Community Clean Up Day forms part of Cork GAA’s wider Sustainability Vision, which promotes environmental responsibility, waste reduction and sustainable practices across all clubs in the county.

Clubs that demonstrate the greatest initiative and engagement in delivering their clean-up activities will receive a prize in recognition of their efforts.

Clubs can register to participate via the Cork GAA Sustainability website, and are asked to do so no later than 5pm on Monday, March 23rd.

Munster GAA announces Ticketing Arrangements for the 2026 Munster Senior Hurling Championship

Munster GAA has confirmed the ticket distribution plan for the upcoming 2026 Munster Senior Hurling Championship, outlining how supporters can access tickets across all five rounds of the competition.

Due to capacity constraints at some venues, along with the expected demand from our clubs, the opening three rounds will be distributed through county boards to ensure fair and equitable access for competing counties. County Boards have been notified of their tickets allocations for each game.

Key Ticketing Details

Rounds 1–3

  • Tickets for the first three rounds will be sold exclusively through county boards.
  • This approach reflects the fact that four of the first six games are being hosted in smaller-capacity venues, while the other two games involve Cork, Limerick and Tipperary, with the first round game between Tipperary and Cork being a repeat of last year’s All Ireland Final.
  • Any unused or returned tickets from county boards will be released for public sale on the Wednesday
    prior to each game.

Rounds 4–5

  • Round 4 and Round 5 tickets will go on general public sale on April 8th.
  • Competing counties will also receive allocations for these games, ensuring strong county representation
    at all fixtures.

Season Ticket holders for the respective counties will be allocated tickets by the Season Ticket team – queries regarding those tickets should be directed to seasonticket@gaa.ie.

A limited number of Juvenile Group tickets will be available for all matches apart from the games at Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg. Clubs can apply for Juvenile Group tickets via www.munster.gaa.ie/tickets from Wednesday April 8th with a maximum of 40 tickets per club (to include 6 adults max.). Cork lose in Allianz Hurling League Division

Allianz Hurling League Division 1ALimerick 3-19 Cork 0-20

By Tom Clancy at TUS Gaelic Grounds

Limerick made it four consecutive victories in Division 1A of the Allianz National Hurling League as Cork suffered a first defeat of the campaign.

Second half goals from Cathal O’Neill and Aidan O’Connor helped the Treaty pull clear of Ben O’Connor’s outfit, after a closely fought opening period at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

A positive result in round six would book a rematch of these sides in the divisional final in early April.

After an early point from Tommy O’Connell, Limerick hit the front courtesy of a goal from Shane O’Brien. Collecting a delivery from Kyle Hayes, the Kilmallock man bulldozed his way through the cover before powering low to the net after 80 seconds.

O’Connell struck back and indeed, so too Cork, who registered the first six white flags. Brian Hayes and Shane Barrett were also on target before a double from Barry Walsh, the rising Killeagh star.

Eventually Aidan O’Connor would convert a free, one of six the Ballybrown man would arrow over in a high-octane opening half.

Limerick slow ground their way into the lead, with Cathal O’Neill, O’Connor and then Adam English all pointing – though there was little between the teams for much of this contest.

The sides would be level three times in the opening half before O’Connor’s stoppage time free nudged John Kiely’s men ahead. Alan Walsh had briefly restored parity, with the Kanturk attacker the sixth Rebel forward to register a point.

The early going in the second half was tight, with O’Mahony and Hayes (two) both on target for Cork, while at the other end, Adam English and O’Connor with a first from play keep the green jerseys ahead.

The crucial goal, from O’Neill arrived on 59 minutes. Set free by captain Cian Lynch, he took the ball wide before unleashing across Patrick Collins for two goals in as many weeks.

There was a penalty soon conceded by Seán O’Donoghue for a foul on Aaron Gillane. This allowed O’Connor add a goal to his tally – he would eventually bring his total to 1-11.

There was late scores for Hugh Flanagan and Tom Morrissey, both in from the bench, while Cork hit the final three scores to bring their tally to 20 .

These sides will clash again on April 26 at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in the second round of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship, and a first championship tie for Limerick.
