1. What is the Cork GAA Sustainable Club Competition?

The Cork GAA Sustainable Club Competition is a competition run by Cork GAA, with PepsiCo as the Positive Action Partner, inviting clubs to showcase their green actions, sustainability initiatives and future plans.

2. Who can enter?

The competition is open to all Cork GAA clubs.

3. How do we enter?

Entering the competition is simple:

• Register through the Cork GAA website.
• Complete the competition entry form.
• Submit your entry by September 28th.
• Include any results, evidence or impact data with your entry where possible.

A shortlist of clubs will be selected by the judging panel by October 3rd.

The judging panel will select the winners from the three categories based on the finalist videos and supporting documentation.

The winners will be announced at the McCarthy Insurance Group Football Championship Finals in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on October 25th.

4. How does our club enter?

Register through the Cork GAA website and complete the competition’s entry form.

5. What should we include in our entry?

Describe your club’s green actions, sustainability initiatives and future plans.

Where possible, include relevant evidence, results and impact data to demonstrate the difference your initiatives are making.

6. What types of projects can be entered?

Clubs can showcase a wide range of sustainability projects and initiatives. Suggested areas include:

• Energy – switching off equipment, installing solar panels or tracking energy use.
• Water – installing refill stations and reducing water usage.
• Travel – cycling, walking, carpooling and electric-vehicle charging.
• Waste – recycling, repairing, reusing and returning materials.
• Biodiversity – planting, wildlife projects and community clean-ups.
• Leadership and Community Engagement – events, meet-ups or campaigns that encourage sustainable action.

These are suggestions rather than limits. Clubs are encouraged to showcase any initiative that demonstrates positive environmental or community impact.

7. Does the project have to be completed?

No. Clubs are invited to describe their existing actions, current initiatives and future plans.

Your project does not necessarily have to be completed. We want to hear about what your club is doing now, what difference it is making and what you plan to do next.

8. Does my club need a dedicated or named sustainability officer?

No. A dedicated sustainability officer is not required to enter.

However, if your club has a person or persons responsible for driving sustainability activity, please include their name in your entry.

9. What evidence should we provide?

Evidence can help demonstrate the impact of your project. Examples include:

• Before-and-after energy or water usage figures.
• Forecast energy or water savings.
• Waste reduction figures.
• Participation numbers.
• Survey results.
• Photographs or other supporting information.
• Other measurable environmental or community impacts.

Don’t worry if you don’t have data for every area. Include whatever evidence is relevant to your project.

10. How many clubs will win?

There will be three winning clubs.

11. What happens if our club is shortlisted?

Each shortlisted finalist will be invited to submit a short video from their club, along with an overview of their sustainability story and supporting documentation.

12. What should the finalist video include?

Show us your club’s sustainability story in a short 2–3 minute video.

Tell us:

• What you’re doing now.
• The difference it has made.
• What’s next for your club.

Keep it real and shareable. Show us your grounds, your people and the impact of your initiatives.

The best entries may also be shared across Cork GAA’s social media channels.

13. What will the winners receive?

The advertised prizes include:

• Sustainability Club Champion Certificate
• Funding towards the club’s next green project
• Expert sustainability advice to help the club learn, grow and save.
