Cork were edged out in Minor

Cork were edged out by Tipperary in Thurles on a 2-17 to 0-16 scoreline in Friday’s Electric Ireland Munster MHC clash, but the final margin flattered the hosts after a competitive contest. Donal Mulcahy’s side led for long spells in the first half, with Sam Ring accurate from frees and Liam O’Regan among the early scorers as Cork settled well into the wind advantage.
The Rebels responded strongly to Tipp’s first-half penalty goal, with Stephen McHugh and Tadhg McCarthy influential, while a bright spell early in the second half saw Ryan Cagney and Cathal Barry help Cork move into a brief lead.
However, the decisive moment came in the 40th minute when Tipperary struck their second goal after a turnover, swinging momentum firmly their way. Despite Ring’s frees keeping Cork in touch, they went scoreless in the closing stages as Tipp pulled clear through Chris Dunne and Conall Morrisson.
