Round up from Friday and Saturday in Co-Op Superstores Hurling Championships

Weekend Hurling Round-Up: County Finalists Confirmed

The Co-Op Superstores Hurling Championships produced delight, drama and late winners across Cork as county final places were decided. From last-gasp goals to extra-time epics, the weekend served up plenty to talk about.

Premier Junior Hurling Championship

Glen Rovers booked their place in the Premier Junior Hurling final thanks to a late goal that proved decisive against Cloughduv. The Northsiders showed composure and class in a tense finish. On Saturday, Kilbrittain sealed their place in the decider with a dramatic late goal to see off Ballygarvan in a thrilling semi-final. The West Cork men will also represent Cork in the Munster Junior Club Championship following their hard-earned win.

Senior ‘A’ Hurling Championship

Bride Rovers secured a long-awaited Senior A final appearance after overcoming Carrigtwohill in a contest that swung with momentum. Despite a strong Carrigtwohill comeback late on, the Rovers’ earlier goal burst and consistency in attack proved the difference. They will meet Castlelyons, who powered through their semi-final thanks to a superb attacking performance. Four well-taken goals highlighted their ability to strike at key moments as they overcame a determined Blarney side to book a place in the final.

Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship

Ballincollig came from behind in the second half with three clinical goals to edge out Dungourney and reach the Premier Intermediate final. Their attacking strength and sharp finishing in the closing stages turned the tide in their favour. Joining them will be Ballinhassig, who never trailed in their semi-final win over Cloyne. Their controlled display and accurate scoring saw them home by four points in Ovens, setting up an exciting decider with Ballincollig.

Intermediate ‘A’ Hurling Championship

Bandon showed grit and determination to grind out a hard-fought win over Sarsfields in a low-scoring encounter dominated by defensive discipline. They will face Aghabullogue, who needed extra time to overcome Aghada in a remarkable ten-goal thriller. Aghabullogue’s energy and finishing power in the added period proved decisive, as they claimed their spot in the county final.
