In an exciting buildup to the highly anticipated Co-Op Superstores Hurling Championship Round 3 games, Rebels Online hosted our first Preview Programme, “Down to the Wire” .

Guiding the audience through the intricacies of the championship’s forthcoming clashes was our lead commentator, Patrick Mulcahy. Adding a layer of authenticity and expertise to the proceedings, two icons of Cork Hurling, Mark Landers and Ronan Curran were part of the panel. 

With enthusiasm and insightful analysis, Landers and Curran delved into the upcoming weekend’s fixtures from the Premier Senior to the riveting contests in Senior A, Premier Intermediate, Intermediate ‘A,’ and Premier Junior. 

Rebels Online’s “Down to the Wire” event marked a momentous juncture in the championship’s round 3 games.

Thursday, August 31st, the August Rebels’ Bounty Draw will be broadcast live from SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Be sure to catch the livestream on the Cork GAA website or Rebels Online.

With a total prize pool of €39,200, including a top prize of €25,000, there are 30 chances to win big.

Winners will be announced for prizes ranging from €3,000 to €150 for those who placed second to thirtieth.

Premier Junior Hurling Championship Group A

Round 3 Fixtures:

Glen Rovers v Argideen Rangers

Erins Own v Tracton

Glen Rovers

  • Will top the group with a win or draw.
  • If Glen Rovers lose and Erins Own win, 1st to 3rd would finish on 4 points each. In this scenario, the group would be decided on points difference.
  • If Glen Rovers lose and Tracton win, Glen would finish in second on head-to-head.

Argideen Rangers

  • Can top the group with a win on head-to-head vs Glen Rovers.
  • If Argideen Rangers draw and Erins Own lose, Argideen would finish in second place.
  • If Argideen Rangers draw and Erins Own draw, Argideen would finish in third place due to losing to Erins Own in Round 2.
  • If Argideen Rangers lose and Erins Own win, Argideen would finish in third place.
  • If Argideen Rangers lose and Tracton win, Argideen would finish in second place on head-to-head vs Tracton.

Erins Own

  • Erins Own can qualify for the knockout stage with a win or draw and Argideen Rangers lose to Glen Rovers.
  • If Erins Own draw and Argideen Rangers draw, Erins Own will go through in second place on head-to-head due to Erins Own beating Argideen.
  • Erins Own can finish bottom if Tracton win by at least 6 points or more.
  • If Erins Own lose and Argideen Rangers lose, 3 teams will be on 2 points so 2nd to 4th will be decided by points difference.

Tracton

  • Can still qualify on points difference by beating Erins Own by at least 6 points to overcome Erins Own but they also require Argideen Rangers to lose. In this scenario Tracton would need to win by at least 10 points to overcome Argideen Rangers points difference.
  • A draw or loss and Tracton will finish bottom of the group. A draw will see them avoid the relegation playoff.

 

Premier Junior Hurling Championship Group B

Round 3 Fixtures:

Barryroe v Milford

Ballygarvan v Kilbrittain

Barryroe

  • Barryroe have qualified for the knockout stages due to previous victories over Kilbrittain and Ballygarvan.
  • Will top the group even if they lose to Milford and there is a winner in the other game.

Kilbrittain

  • Kilbrittain need a draw to qualify in second place.
  • A loss will eliminate Kilbrittain from the championship.

Ballygarvan

  • A Ballygarvan  victory over Kilbrittain will qualify them in second place.
  • A draw or loss will eliminate them from the championship.

Milford

  • Milford can’t qualify from this group.
  • Milford can only finish bottom of this group due to head-to-head results vs both Ballygarvan and Kilbrittain.
  • Milford need a draw or win to avoid the relegation playoff.
  • If Milford lose they will need a superior points difference over Tracton to avoid the relegation playoff.

St Catherines v Russell Rovers

Meelin v St Finbarr’s

St Catherines

  • St Catherines will qualify for the knockout stage with a draw.
  • If St Catherines lose and Meelin draw or win, St Catherines will be eliminated in third place.
  • If St Catherines lose and St Finbarr’s win, St Catherines will need a superior scoring difference to Meelin to qualify in second place.

Meelin

  • Meelin will qualify for the next round with a draw.
  • If Meelin win and St Catherines lose, Meelin will top the group.
  • If Meelin lose and Russell Rovers win, Meelin will need a superior scoring difference to St Catherines to qualify.

Russell Rovers

  • Russell Rovers must win to qualify for the knockout stage.
  • A draw or loss and they will be eliminated.

St Finbarr’s

  • St Finbarr’s can’t qualify from the group.
  • Need to win or draw and hope Milford and Tracton both lose to avoid the relegation playoff.
