SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh is preparing to welcome Munster Rugby for a fourth time, with Racing 92 set to provide the opposition when the province opens its 2026/27 Investec Champions Cup campaign in Cork on Saturday, October 17th at 8pm.

Since hosting its first-ever rugby match in November 2022, SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh has quickly established itself as a spectacular venue for major rugby occasions, with Munster having won all three of their previous matches at the stadium.

A memorable rugby history

The story began on 10 November 2022, when Munster faced a touring South Africa A side in the first rugby match ever played at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

A remarkable 41,400 supporters attended the historic fixture, setting a record for attendance at a rugby match in the province of Munster.

The crowd was rewarded with a memorable performance as Munster ran out 28-14 winners.

Just over a year later, Munster returned to Cork for another major international rugby occasion.

On 3 February 2024, the province faced New Zealand Super Rugby giants the Crusaders in a sold-out clash in front of 40,885 supporters.

Another dramatic contest followed, with Munster edging to a 21-19 victory.

The stadium then welcomed its first competitive European rugby fixture when Munster hosted Gloucester in the Investec Champions Cup on 13 December 2025.

In front of 36,208 supporters, Munster produced a commanding performance to defeat the English side 31-3, securing a bonus-point victory and setting a record attendance for a Champions Cup game in Munster.

Fourth time around

Now, Munster are set to return to SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh for a fourth appearance, bringing the Investec Champions Cup back to Cork for another major European occasion.

French Top 14 side Racing 92 will provide the opposition in Round 1 of the competition, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm on Saturday, October 17th.

Across Munster’s three previous appearances, more than 118,000 supporters have passed through the gates of SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

With the venue having already witnessed victories over South Africa A, the Crusaders and Gloucester, another chapter in the stadium’s growing rugby history will be written when Racing 92 arrive on Leeside.
