SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh to host crucial FIFA Women’s World Cup play-off second leg

13 October 2026

SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh is proud to confirm that it will host the Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team’s decisive second-leg play-off against Kazakhstan in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Round One Qualifying Play-Offs on Tuesday, October 13th (7.30pm kick-off).

The announcement sees the Girls in Green return to the Cork venue that provided the backdrop to one of the most memorable nights in Irish women’s football. In June, a passionate Leeside crowd witnessed a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Netherlands, sealed by Amber Barrett’s late winner in the 89th minute.

Now, with a place in the next stage of World Cup qualifying at stake, SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh is preparing to welcome another major international occasion to Cork.

The two-legged play-off will begin in Astana Arena on Friday, October 9th, before the tie returns to Leeside for what promises to be a thrilling conclusion.

Speaking ahead of the return to Cork, Republic of Ireland Head Coach Carla Ward highlighted the impact the supporters made at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh earlier this summer.

“I am delighted to be heading back to Cork. The Netherlands game was incredibly special, particularly because the Cork crowd showed such passion. The supporters turned up in their droves to get behind the team and truly made a difference.

We will need the supporters again as this game is crucial. We cannot take Kazakhstan for granted, especially with the significant travel involved between the two legs. We will need everyone in the stands to get behind the team once more to help us get over the line.”

The electric atmosphere generated by supporters in June showcased SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh as a premier venue for international football, and another large crowd is expected for this crucial October fixture.
