The Role

Coiste Chontae Chorcaí CLG/Cork County GAA Committee (County Committee) is now seeking a suitably qualified professional, to fill the role of Finance Manager with responsibility for financial management, control and treasury. The successful candidate will report to the Cork GAA CEO and will be responsible for providing financial leadership and insights, to enable Cork GAA to deliver on its strategic objective of maximising commercial opportunities, while delivering financial stability and creating a future sustainable organisation.

Duties shall include but shall not be limited to:

• To assist the Cork County Treasurer with the management of all financial services/operations ensuring that proper governance and accountability in all aspects of the Cork County Committee’s (and all subsidiary Committees) financial dealings;
• Manage the preparation of the monthly management accounts (including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow) process for the individual Cork GAA entities, providing key performance indicators, detailed variance analysis and key insights and present to the relevant stakeholders as appropriate;
• Manage the preparation of the annual statutory financial statements for the Cork GAA entities, for presentation at convention, including receiving sign off by the external auditor and approval by the relevant internal committees and boards of Cork GAA;
• Manage the preparation of budgets, forecasts and strategic / business plans, and review performance to enable robust reporting of variances to key stakeholders;
• Responsible for full Treasury management, managing the engagement with Lenders and ensuring effective Cash Flow management and Credit Control;
• Ensure all activities are compliant from a regulatory and legislative perspective including full adherence with tax return deadlines and company secretarial filings;
• In conjunction with the Cork GAA Commercial Director, develop initiatives to enhance the financial returns for Cork GAA;
• Lead the finance / administration team and ensure that for the finance process, appropriate controls are in place and followed;
• Drive efficiencies across financial areas including but not limited to financial accounting, invoicing, accounts receivable, procurement, accounts payable and payroll, from a process and systems perspective;
• Lead the process for the identification of the key risks for Cork GAA, as part of an overall Enterprise Risk Management process and work with the CEO, Executive, Boards and Sub-Committees to implement controls to mitigate these Risks as appropriate;
• Undertaking any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Cork GAA CEO.

Essential Criteria:

• An appropriate qualification (ACA / CPA / ACCA / CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management
• Commercially aware with the ability to operate at a Senior Level and provide valuable financial insights.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience of effectively managing multiple projects and deadlines; evidence of adopting a hands-on approach to getting things done;
• Strong leadership and influencing skills and ability to negotiate change within the organisation.
• Ability to manage people/resources and build and sustain good team relationships and manage conflict;
• Strong organisational and analytical capabilities with attention to detail;
• Excellent administrative and IT skills with a strong working knowledge of Accounting Packages and IT related packages and systems such as Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word);
• Enthusiastic and committed self-starter with a proactive approach to problem solving.

Desirable Criteria:

• Previous experience of using SAGE;
• An in-depth knowledge of the GAA and its structures;
• A strong interest in and understanding of Cork GAA.
