REBEL RÉALTA Sports and Activity Day a Huge Success!

REBEL RÉALTA Sports and Activity Day a Huge Success!

On Thursday, September 18th, SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh hosted the inaugural REBEL RÉALTA Sports and Activity Day, a special event celebrating inclusion in Gaelic Games for children with additional needs. Despite the weather, the day was filled with fun, excitement, and plenty of smiles!

Children enjoyed a variety of football and hurling activities, skill challenges, and mini-games. Every participant had the chance to play on the main pitch, with intercounty players, coaches, and volunteers helping make it a truly memorable experience.

We are so grateful to our amazing sponsors for supporting the day: Ashdale Catering provided snacks, fruit, and a variety of hot foods, while Spar Mount Oval supplied crisps, water, and jellies. Their support made all the difference!

The event was made possible by a dedicated team of volunteers, including committee members, maintenance staff, teachers, retired teachers, GDCs, third-level students (one from Endicott in Boston!), coaches, and traffic stewards. A huge thank you to everyone — your commitment and support ensured the day ran smoothly and safely.

“We had a fantastic Sports Day for children with special needs, filled with fun, excitement, and plenty of smiles. Thank you to everyone who made it possible — our committee, maintenance team, teachers, retired teachers, coaches, and traffic stewards. Your help and support were instrumental in making the day such a success.”

Sciath na Scol is excited to build on this success and looks forward to expanding REBEL RÉALTA to more schools in the future, making it a lasting celebration of inclusion and participation in Cork GAA.
