Co-op Superstores Intermediate ‘A’ HC 2025 Semi-Final Preview

The race for the Co-op Superstores Intermediate ‘A’ Championship title has reached the semi-final stage, with two mouth-watering clashes on Saturday, October 4th. Sarsfields will take on Bandon in Riverstick at 4:00 PM, while Aghada face Aghabullogue in Ballyanley, also at 4:00 PM. Each of the four teams has battled through three group stage games and either a quarter-final or a bye to reach this stage. Here’s how they got here:

Semi-Final 1: Sarsfields vs Bandon

Venue: Riverstick | Time: Saturday, October 4th, 4:00 PM

Sarsfields’ Path

Sarsfields laid down a marker in Round 1 with a big win over Youghal, 3-22 (31) to 0-15 (15). They carried that momentum into Round 2, where they overcame Blackrock 0-22 (22) to 1-14 (17). Their only stumble came in Round 3, a high-scoring battle with Aghabullogue that ended 3-13 (22) to 2-13 (19) against them. Still, their strong group performance ensured they topped their group and advanced straight to the semi-finals, avoiding the quarter-final stage.

Bandon’s Path

Bandon opened their campaign with a 3-18 (27) to 0-19 (19) win over Russell Rovers, followed by a Round 2 defeat to Midleton, 1-20 (23) to 1-15 (18). They recovered well in Round 3, powering past Mayfield 1-25 (28) to 1-15 (18). In the quarter-finals, they faced a thriller against Erin’s Own, edging it 3-19 (28) to 4-10 (22) to book their semi-final clash with Sarsfields.

Semi-Final 2: Aghada vs Aghabullogue

Venue: Ballyanley | Time: Saturday, October 4th, 4:00 PM

Aghada’s Path

Aghada’s group campaign was dramatic. They lost narrowly in Round 1 to Kildorrery, 2-19 (25) to 1-22 (25), before bouncing back strongly with a 1-27 (30) to 0-17 (17) victory over Erin’s Own. They sealed their semi-final place in Round 3 with another solid win, beating Ballygiblin 2-20 (26) to 1-15 (18). With two wins from three, they qualified directly for the semi-finals, avoiding the quarter-final stage.

  • Round 2: Aghada 1-27 – 0-17 Erin’s Own

Aghabullogue’s Path

Aghabullogue started with intent, beating Blackrock 2-21 (27) to 1-13 (16) in Round 1. They followed up with another strong win in Round 2, overcoming Youghal 2-22 (28) to 2-11 (17). In Round 3, they edged a classic against Sarsfields, 3-13 (22) to 2-13 (19), to complete a perfect group campaign. In the quarter-finals, they kept their run going with a 1-18 (21) to 1-12 (15) victory over Midleton, securing their semi-final clash with Aghada.

This weekend, the semi-finals of the Co-op Superstores Premier JHC will take place, with Glen Rovers facing Cloughduv on Friday, October 3rd at 7:30 PM in Páirc Uí Rinn, and Kilbrittain taking on Ballygarvan on Saturday, October 4th at 4:00 PM in Minane Bridge. Semi-Final 1: Glen Rovers vs Cloughduv

Glen Rovers’ Path

Glen Rovers have been in fine form throughout the championship. They began with a narrow win over St Catherines, 1-14 (17) to 0-15 (15), before a draw with St Finbarrs, 2-15 (21) to 1-18 (21), showcased their resilience. They finished the group stages strongly with a comprehensive victory over Meelin, 1-25 (28) to 0-18 (18). Their strong performance earned them a bye directly into the semi-finals, skipping the quarter-finals.

Kilbrittain’s Path

Kilbrittain began their championship campaign with a win over Barryroe, 0-22 (22) to 1-15 (18). They suffered a setback in Round 2, losing narrowly to Cloughduv, 2-17 (23) to 1-17 (20), but came back strongly in Round 3 with a big win over Nemo Rangers, 3-19 (28) to 1-10 (13). Their performance in the group stages earned them a bye into the semi-finals, skipping the quarter-finals.

They bounced back in Round 3 with a victory over Argideen Rangers, 0-26 (26) to 2-14 (20), securing a place in the quarter-finals. There, they edged past St Catherines in a thrilling contest, 1-18 (21) to 1-17 (20), to reach the semi-finals against Kilbrittain.

Scór na nÓg is back for 2025 and it is time for young GAA members to get set for the upcoming competitions. If you were U17 on January 1st 2025, get involved with your club and take part in any of the eight disciplines, Rince Foirne, Amhránaíocht Aonair, Aithriseoireacht/Scéalaíocht, Bailéad Ghrúpa, Nuachleas, Ceol Uirlise, Rince Seit & Tráth na gCeist.
Dates have also been set for the 2026 Scór na bPáistí competitions. National school children can take part in the usual eight Scór competitions plus Rince Aonair, Ceol Aonair & Rince Seanós.

This Sunday, October 5th, all eyes will be on SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh for a massive Co-op Superstores Premier Senior Hurling Championship semi-final double-header. Two heavyweight clashes are set for the day: Blackrock take on Midleton at 2:00 PM, followed by Sarsfields against St Finbarr’s at 3:45 PM.

Four of Cork’s traditional hurling powerhouses have battled their way through group stages and quarter-finals to reach this point — here’s how each team made it to Super Sunday.

Semi-Final 1: Blackrock vs Midleton

Venue: SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh
Time: Sunday, October 5th – 2:00 PM

Blackrock’s Path

Blackrock opened their campaign with a solid 1-20 (23) to 0-18 (18) win over Kanturk. They were beaten in Round 2 by a strong St Finbarr’s side, 2-25 (31) to 2-14 (20), but bounced back emphatically in Round 3 with a huge 0-33 (33) to 0-11 (11) victory over Douglas. Their two group wins were enough to secure a direct semi-final spot.

Into the quarter-finals, they edged a thriller against Glen Rovers, winning 2-19 (25) to 2-17 (23) to book their semi-final place.

Time: Sunday, October 5th – 3:45 PM

Sarsfields’ Path

Sarsfields have looked in top form throughout the championship. They began with a dominant 1-28 (31) to 1-14 (17) win over Fr O’Neill’s, and followed it up with a 4-30 (42) to 3-15 (24) shootout victory against Erin’s Own. In Round 3, they faced Glen Rovers and came out on top 2-23 (29) to 2-19 (25). Carrying that momentum into the quarter-finals, they defeated Charleville 0-22 (22) to 1-15 (18), sealing a semi-final showdown with the Barrs.

St Finbarr’s Path

The Barrs sent out a strong statement in Round 1 with a 1-25 (28) to 0-19 (19) win over Douglas. They backed it up with another big result against Blackrock, winning 2-25 (31) to 2-14 (20). Round 3 saw them defeat Kanturk 0-25 (25) to 1-17 (20) to top their group and qualify directly for the semi-finals. With three wins from three, the Togher men arrive at Páirc Uí Chaoimh unbeaten and full of confidence.
