BUMPER YEAR FOR SUPERVALU PÁIRC UÍ CHAOIMH WITH MAJOR FIXTURES
Sporting events expected to generate significant income for city economy
SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh is expected to enjoy its busiest-ever year for sporting events since its renovation, with major fixtures confirmed for Hurling, Gaelic Football, Rugby and Soccer during 2025.
Over 40,000 fans are expected at the stadium this Sunday for the Division 1A National Hurling League final between Cork and Tipperary, and the Division 1B National Hurling League final between Waterford and Offaly.
The sell-out event is just one of a number of significant GAA fixtures confirmed in the Páirc’s calendar this year.
Tipperary and Waterford will return to the stadium on April 27th and May 25th respectively to face Cork during the Munster Hurling Championship, tickets for which go on sale this Wednesday at 12 noon. Early indications are that these games will also be sell-outs.
A Munster Hurling Final on Saturday, June 6th may be on the cards, subject to the final pairing.
Meanwhile, if Cork Senior Footballers are victorious over Limerick this weekend, they will host Kerry on Saturday, April 19th at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in the Munster Football Championship.
In addition, ‘Home’ games in the Munster Championship will be hosted by the Cork U20 Hurlers and Footballers, as well as Camogie and Ladies Football championship games.
The stadium will also be showcased further through additional sporting fixtures that have been approved by the GAA’s Central Council. These include;
-
Republic of Ireland versus Slovenia in the Women’s Nations League on June 3rd
-
The inaugural Cork Super Cup between Cork City FC and Celtic FC on July 8th
-
Munster Rugby will hope to play a Champions Cup game in December
Meanwhile, the sale of 5 and 10-year season tickets has been a major success with all 2,575 seats now sold-out on both Premium and South Stand Lower levels.
Kevin O’Donovan, CEO of Cork GAA, has welcomed the confirmation of these significant fixtures. He said, “These announcements come on the back of a very busy period with record crowds turning out to see Cork’s hurlers in the National League. The stadium is now showing its true potential, with each sell-out event estimated to be worth in the region of €6 million euro to the local economy. We are very grateful for the support of the GAA community, who have helped sell out our Premium Level tickets, and the dedicated seating that was on sale through the South Stand. Couple that with the business events that are held regularly at the stadium, and the significant plans we have for other events in the months ahead, and we can truly see the stadium as the asset to Cork that it is.”

Cork GAA Confirms Panda as Clean-Up Day Recycling Partner for Cork City Area
CORK GAA CONFIRM PANDA AS CLEAN UP DAY RECYCLING PARTNER FOR CORK CITY AREA
Deadline for clubs to register is Wednesday, April 2nd
Panda is the latest recycling company to come on board for this year’s Cork GAA Community Clean Up Day as interest in the initiative continues to grow.
Almost 100 clubs from around Cork city and county registered for the inaugural Clean Up Day last year and it’s hoped that number will surpass 100 this year.
Cork GAA is calling on all hurling, football, camogie and ladies football clubs to don their colours and get involved on Saturday, April 12th. Each club will be provided with equipment such as litter pickers, gloves, bags and hi-vis vests.
Panda has been confirmed as the official recycling partner of SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh and is the Clean Up Day recycling partner for the Cork City area. KWD Recycling, Country Clean Recycling and Wiser Recycling will be collecting in the county.
Enda Buckley, Chair of Cork GAA Sustainability Committee said: “We are delighted that this year’s Clean Up Day is supported by the recycling companies and that Panda has also come on board for the city area. The event is part of Cork GAA’s Sustainability Vision and aims to foster a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone to enjoy. We also have a goal of collecting and properly disposing of large volumes of waste with each club last year collecting 12 to 15 bags of drink cups, wrappers, packaging, plastic bottles, cigarette butts and some green waste.”
Cork GAA is the first County Board in the country to undertake such an initiative on this scale and is supported by An Taisce, Tidy Towns and Cork City and County Councils. Any club that wants to take part can register before Wednesday, April 2nd.
