GAA Green Clubs — SEAI Community Energy Grant
What is the SEAI Community Energy Grant?
The SEAI Community Energy Grant supports energy-efficiency upgrades and renewable energy projects in community buildings — including GAA clubhouses, pitches and associated facilities. Typical measures include LED floodlighting, insulation, heating controls and solar PV.
- Grant rates commonly range from 30%–50% of eligible costs (subject to SEAI rules).
- Projects must be approved by SEAI before work begins.
- Must demonstrate energy and carbon savings once complete.
How the process works (step by step)
- Initial assessment: Review current energy use and identify priorities (lighting, insulation, renewables).
- Audit/Project coordinator: Arrange a professional assessment and appoint someone to submit and manage the application.
- Apply: Gather quotes, estimate savings, and submit the application to SEAI.
- Deliver works: Begin works only after approval, keep records and invoices.
- Report & monitor: Share results — energy saved, €/yr saved and CO₂ reduced.
Practical tips for clubs
- Start early — audits and quotes take time.
- Assemble at least three competitive quotes for each measure.
- Keep detailed before/after records (photos, invoices, meter readings).
- Plan for upfront payments — many grants reimburse on proof of completion.
- Use the GAA Green Clubs framework to amplify impact and access guidance.
