Cork GAA are delighted to announce that following the success of the inaugural Cork GAA Clean Up Day in 2024, this initiative will return again for 2025. We are proposing an annual event with one day each year, and this year we are proposing a spring clean-up on Saturday April 12th, to coincide with An Taisce’s National Spring Clean

So come on everyone – don your team colours and pitch in!

Our hurling, football, camogie and ladies football clubs are sustained by their communities where the passion for our games is passed from one generation to the next, and we must ensure we pass on the planet in a stronger position to the next generation.

The Cork GAA Community Clean Up Day initiative aims to promote community engagement, environmental awareness, and pride in our shared spaces.

On this day, players, coaches, officials, supporters, and wider communities will unite to clean up various locations across Cork City and County. Our mission? To collect and properly dispose of large volumes of waste, fostering a cleaner, healthier environment.

Use our Guidance Document to help organise a clean up event in your community and keep everyone safe. Download it to get started!

No, everyone in the community is welcome and encouraged to join in.

All club secretaries will receive an invitation to register and details of the event from Cork GAA, LGFA or Camogie Association. Please reach out to your club management for further information.

Where there are a number of adult, underage, ladies football and camogie teams, which may be registered as different clubs but share the same facilities, we would ask all to get together but one team to take the lead in registering and coordinating the event in your area.

  • Each cleaning kit will contain a number of refuse and recycling bags, gloves, hi-vis vests and litter pickers.
  • Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide enough items for every volunteer but we encourage clubs to collaborate with other community groups such as Tidy Towns who may also have some kit that they are willing to share.

Each club will decide on the areas to focus within their communities

This will be for each club to decide and communicate to their group but we recommend approximately two hours in duration.

  • Only waste collected during the Clean Up Day will be accepted.
  •  Two different coloured bags will be provided in the kits, one for general waste and one for recyclables.
  • Clubs are also encouraged to avail of the Re-turn scheme for suitable plastic bottles and aluminium cans.

No, the Cork GAA Clean Up Day will be once a year and this year, we are proposing a Spring clean up on Saturday April 12th.

Our partnering waste collection companies KWD, Country Clean and Wisers will collect from club ground in their areas.

We are delighted to partner with Cork Camogie and Ladies football boards, along with An Taisce, Cork City Council, Cork County Council and waste companies KWD, Country Clean and Wisers with this initiative and thank them for their support.
