Tom Creedon Cup Final this Saturday 30th July

 

The Tom Creedon Cup which is proudly hosted by Macroom GAA club and is sponsored by Fitzgeralds Bookshop Macroom has now reached the final.

The final will take place on Saturday 30th July in Castle Grounds Macroom with the fixture details as follows:

the Macroom club would be delighted to welcome supporters from all over the county on the day to honour our former club man who sadly passed away in 1983 but before that had represented Macroom and Cork with distinction.

The competition which honours his memory has been organised by the Macroom club with the support of Cork county board since 1985.

Dairygold Co-Op Superstores and Cork GAA have re-affirmed their partnership until 2025 as the Co-Op Superstores Cork County Hurling Championships 2022 are launched.

Cork County Board announced that Co-Op Superstores are to remain as the title sponsor of the county hurling championships for an additional 3 years at the launch of the 2022 Co-Op Superstores Cork Club Hurling Championships.

The Co-Op Superstores Cork County Hurling Championships will officially commence on Friday, 29th of July with a packed weekend of much-anticipated games. Clubs throughout the county are gearing up for the first round of games and the excitement is already in the air. The championships will include even more games with each knock-out stage culminating in a series of county finals in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh later this autumn.

Speaking at this year’s launch Cork County Board Vice- Chairperson Pat Horgan commented “Co-Op Superstores is the retail division of Dairygold and with 18 stores across the county has deep roots throughout Cork, just as our GAA clubs do. They have been a tremendous partner and we are delighted that they are remaining on board as title sponsor of our club hurling championships for another 3 years.”

Commenting at the launch Kevin O’Donovan, CEO of Cork GAA, said, “I wish to thank Co-Op Superstores for their support and I look forward to a highly exciting and competitive round of games ahead. This year’s hurling season is full of talent, commitment and conviction for Club and County and so promises to be a captivating calendar of games for all our players. Hurling for Cancer Research is back for 2022

The Hurling for Cancer Research celebrity match returns for its 10th annual game at St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge Co Kildare on Tuesday 16th August 2022 at 6:00pm.

 

As always this year’s event boasts a star-studded line-up including legendary players TJ Reid and Richie Hogan of Kilkenny, Limerick’s Tom and Dan Morrissey, Cork camogie hero Ashling Thompson, Wexford’s Lee Chin and many, many more, with comedy duo The 2 Johnnies also taking to the field.

 

The event, organised annually by leading trainer Jim Bolger and champion jockey Davy Russell, will also feature household names from the wider world of sport and television including presenter Miriam O’Callaghan and Boys in Green legend Paul McGrath

 

By now a firm favourite in the calendar of hurling fanatics across the country, Hurling for Cancer Research has succeeded in raising over €1.1 million to provide hope for better treatments and cures for cancer patients through research, and is always guaranteed to be a great day out for the family.
