All Ireland Scór Sinsir Finals
Millstreet’s Tráth na gCeist captured the All-Ireland Scór Sinsir title last Saturday at the Gleneagle/INEC Arena. Having made it into the top three with Churchill, Kerry and Edenderry, Offaly, following the conclusion of the ten rounds of the table quiz, Millstreet qualified for the stage quiz. Here the team members, John Tarrant, Pat Sheehan, Con Healy, and Jerry Doody answered five individual questions each. It was a close finish that saw Kerry finish on 75 marks, Offaly on 78 and Cork on 79. This is the first time since 2001 that the title has come back to the County and indeed to the Duhallow based club.
Saturday was also a special day for West Corkman, Bill Harte, this year’s Munster recipient of the Scór Long Service Award. Bill hailing from Carbery Rangers GAA club has been an instrumental figure in Scór since its inception. Bill has been to the forefront when his club have been victorious at divisional level in Carbery and has been to every corner of the country supporting Carbery Rangers on the National stage. 2018 proved to be an extra special year for Bill when Carbery Rangers claimed the Bailéad Ghrúpa titles in Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsir in Sligo. A truly worthy recipient of the award – Maith thú Bill.
