2022 Bon Secours Cork Premier Senior Football Championship Final Nemo Rangers v St Finbarr’s

The Bon Secours Cork Premier Senior Football Championship Final takes place this Sunday 30th October at 4:00pm at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Nemo Rangers came through the Group stage with three wins from three, with a very impressive performance over rivals Castlehaven in the second group game. This sealed their place in the Quarter Final to face off against Carbery Rangers. Nemo survived the difficult Quarter Final test that Carbery Rangers served up, with a difficult and defensive performance from the west Cork side. Nemo eventually prevailed with goals from Jack Horgan and Barry O’Driscoll. Ballincollig overcame Carbery division side in the other Quarter Final to setup a meeting with Nemo in the Semi Final. Nemo eventually eased past Ballincollig, Luke Connolly’s penalty during the second half giving them some breathing room and open the game up to finish off Ballincollig. Nemo Rangers are in their centenary year and they will want to mark it in style with yet another Cork Premier Senior Football Championship title.

Last years champions, St Finbarr’s also eased through the group stage with three wins from three with big performances along the way. This booked their place in the Semi Finals as the best team from the Group stages. Castlehaven came through the Quarter Finals to setup yet another Semi Final with the Barr’s, having lost out on penalties in the 2021 Semi Final. Late goals from Steven Sherlock and Brian Hayes eventually saw off the stubborn challenge from Castlehaven, as the sides were level on a dozen occasions. The Barrs eventually showed their class to come out on top again to set up an all city Premier SFC Final against Nemo Rangers. The Barrs will be aiming to complete a historic double, with the hurling team having won the Premier SHC Final earlier this month.

The Referee for the game will be Alan Long (Argideen Rangers).

2022 Bon Secours Cork Senior A Football Championship Final Knocknagree v St Michaels

The Bon Secours Cork Senior A Football Championship Final takes place this Sunday 30th October at 2:00pm at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Knocknagree came through Group C with one win from three, sealing their place in the Quarter Finals with a victory over Fermoy in the final round of games. The finalists also met in the group stage, with St Michaels coming out on top on that occasion by 3 points. Beal Áthan Ghaorthaidh, who topped Group B with 5 points, met with Knocknagree in the Quarter Finals. This match was a struggle from start to finish, but it was the Duhallow side that prevailed thanks to a productive opening half scoring 1-9 to 0-7 with the goal proving crucial at the final whistle. Clyda Rovers qualified for the Semi Finals and awaited Knocknagree. This was another tight affair, with the experience and class of Eoghan McSweeney being the difference with two late scores at the end of the game to win it for Knocknagree. John Fintan Daly’s side have been on a remarkable run, winning the Junior, Intermediate and Premier Intermediate grades in 2017, 2019 and 2020 respectively. They’ll be aiming to keep the momentum going and make it to the Premier Senior grade for the first time in their history in 2023.

St Michaels breezed through Group C with three wins from three following some impressive performances over Knocknagree, Bishopstown and Fermoy. This booked their place in the Semi Finals to await the eventual Quarter Final winners O’Donovan Rossa. It was another fantastic performance from the Mahon side in the Semi Final, having led the game from start to finish. Two goals from Robbie Cotter and sub Eoin O’Donovan sealed St Michael’s place in the Cork Senior A Football Final, although the bulk of the work had been done as with a superb performance from Michaels. St Michaels also made it to the final of the Premier IFC when it was the second tier in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019 and they were last years beaten finalists of the Senior A grade. They will be hoping to finally win the Senior A Championship and make it back to the top grade in 2023 since being relegated in 2006.

The Referee for the game will be James Regan (Lough Rovers).
