Cork GAA recently marked the launch of the 2026 Co-Op Superstores Cork County Hurling Championships at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, as clubs across the county prepare for another exciting championship season.

Friday night’s Co-Op SuperStores championship action produced drama across both the Premier SHC and Intermediate A Hurling Championship.
Newtownshandrum came from seven points down to earn a deserved 2-16 to 0-22 draw with Douglas in Ballyhooly, with Jamie Coughlan hitting 1-12, including a late equalising free, while Shane Kingston scored 0-11 for Douglas.
At Páirc Uí Rinn, Midleton opened their Premier SHC campaign in impressive fashion, defeating St Finbarr’s 0-25 to 0-17. Conor Lehane led the scoring with 0-9 and Killian McDermott added 0-6 as Midleton stayed in control throughout.
In the Co-Op Superstores Intermediate A Hurling Championship, Bandon beat Aghada 2 -24 to 1-21 at Church Road. Bandon two goals were scored by Jack Cullinane and Denis O’Mahony while Jamie O’Hanlon scored Aghada’s goal.

Bobby Power named on 2026 Minor Star Hurling Team of the Year
Congratulations to Bobby Power (Ballincollig) who has been named at corner-forward on the 2026 Electric Ireland Minor Star Hurling Team of the Year, following an outstanding championship campaign in the red jersey.

Power is Cork’s sole representative on this year’s prestigious selection, earning national recognition for his consistently impressive performances throughout the championship. Cork enjoyed an excellent campaign, reaching the Electric Ireland All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship Semi-Final, while Bobby’s displays throughout the year saw him recognised among the country’s top young hurlers.
This year’s Team of the Year is dominated by All-Ireland champions Limerick, who have seven representatives, while runners-up Tipperary have five selections. Cork, Galway and Kilkenny each have one player recognised.
