Six Games Played in Intermediate A Hurling Championship

There was plenty of action in the Co-Op Superstores Intermediate A Hurling Championship this evening, with six games played across the competition.

Aghada produced a strong performance to overcome Kilbrittain on a scoreline of 1-23 to 0-18, while Bandon edged a close encounter with Russell Rovers, winning by a single point, 0-18 to 0-17.

There was nothing between Midleton and Kildorrery, as the sides finished level at 1-19 apiece. Mallow also came through a tight contest, defeating Blackrock 2-18 to 1-20.

Youghal recorded a convincing 1-24 to 1-14 victory over Erin’s Own, while Sarsfields finished the evening strongly with a 3-19 to 1-16 win over Ballygiblin.

With the final round of games now completed, attention turns to the knock-out stages of the Co-Op Superstores Intermediate A Hurling Championship.

 

IAHC Permutations: Plenty to Be Decided in Final Round of Group Fixtures

Eleven of the 12 teams involved in the Co-op SuperStores IAHC still have a chance of reaching the knockout stages, with plenty to be decided in Friday night’s final group games.

With two games remaining in each group, the permutations are particularly intriguing in Groups 1 and 2, where all four teams remain in contention.

Group 1 – Five Possible Qualifying Pairings

Kilbrittain and Bandon currently lead the way on three points, while Aghada and Russell Rovers have one point each.

Group 2 – Almost Two Knockout Games

Mallow lead Group 2 on three points, with Blackrock on two and Midleton and Kildorrery also still in contention.

Group 3 is considerably clearer.

Sarsfields’ second team have already secured top spot following victories over Erin’s Own and Youghal.

That leaves the remaining qualification place to be decided between Erin’s Own and Youghal, who are both currently on two points.

Everything to Play For

With 11 of the 12 teams still having a route to the knockout stages, Friday night promises plenty of drama.

Group 1 is particularly finely balanced, with five different possible pairings still capable of filling the top two positions.

In Group 2, Mallow, Blackrock, Midleton and Kildorrery all remain in contention, while Group 3 will see Erin’s Own and Youghal battle it out for the final knockout place.

The final round of group fixtures will determine who keeps their IAHC title ambitions alive.

With two rounds of the group stages now completed, the race for places in the knockout stages is finely balanced heading into the final round of fixtures.

Sarsfields currently lead the standings having won both of their opening games, while Kilbrittain and Mallow sit on three points apiece.

Bandon also have three points, with Blackrock and Erins Own currently on two points each. With one round remaining, there is still plenty to play for across all three groups.

Registration Closing Soon for Provincial Child Safeguarding Information Evening

Clubs are reminded that registration for the Provincial Child Safeguarding Information Evening taking place on Monday, September 14th at Mallow GAA will close at 5pm on Wednesday, September 9th.

The information evening is an important opportunity for Club Children’s Officers and other relevant club personnel to attend a provincial safeguarding information session and receive important updates and guidance in relation to child safeguarding within the GAA.

No registrations will be accepted after the 5pm deadline on Wednesday, September 9th.

Clubs are asked to please share the details with their Club Children’s Officers and encourage those who wish to attend to register before the closing date.

The Co-Op Superstores Divisions / Colleges Hurling Championship reaches its climax with Imokilly and Seandun set to go head-to-head in the final at Páirc Uí Rinn.

Both teams have impressed on their respective journeys to the decider, setting up an intriguing final between two sides determined to finish the championship on a high.

Seandun’s Road to the Final

Seandun began their campaign in the Unseeded Round 2, where they faced Carbery in Ovens.

A high-scoring encounter saw Seandun produce a strong display to come away with a 1-25 to 0-25 victory, securing their place in the next stage of the competition.

Their next challenge came against Muskerry in the Seeded Semi-Final at Ballinlough. The two sides could not be separated after 60 minutes, with Seandun eventually prevailing 0-32 to 1-30 after extra time in a thrilling contest.

That hard-fought victory booked Seandun’s place in the championship final.

Imokilly’s Road to the Final

Imokilly entered the competition at the Seeded Semi-Final stage, where they met UCC in Midleton.

They made an immediate impression, delivering an impressive attacking performance and finding the net four times on their way to a convincing 4-26 to 0-19 victory.

The result saw Imokilly safely through to the final, where they now face Seandun with the championship title on the line.
