Cork GAA Statement 28th August 2026
Cork GAA Statement 28th August 2026
Cork GAA can confirm that Ronan Curran will not be continuing in his role as a selector with the Cork Senior Hurling Team in 2027. One of the greats of Cork hurling, Ronan served the county with distinction as a player, U20 selector and last year with the senior team.
Ronan said: ‘Myself and Ben had a good chat up in his home recently and I told him that I would be stepping away for 2027. Ben is a great friend of mine, and I’d like to thank him for the opportunity to come on board, firstly with the U20s in 2023 and 2024, and then with the Senior Team last year. The year didn’t end as anyone in Cork would have wanted, but it was a great experience. From here we have chosen different paths, but I look forward to supporting Ben and all the lads from the stands next season.’
Cork manager Ben O’Connor is grateful for Ronan’s contribution, noting: ‘Ronan is a top-class hurling man, a good Cork man and a good friend and I would like to thank him for everything he gave us throughout the year and wish him all the best going forward.’
Cork GAA chairperson Pat Horgan said: ‘I wish to put on record the appreciation of the County Board for Ronan’s contribution over the last year. The demands of being involved at this level are enormous and Ronan demonstrated huge commitment and passion for the cause. We wish him every success in his future endeavours.’
Further details relating to the management and coaching arrangements for Cork’s intercounty teams will be confirmed at the next meeting of Cork County Committee on Tuesday, 08 September 2026.
