SOLD OUT: SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh Performance Camp

Camp is now sold out.

We would like to thank everyone who signed up to attend our camp.

Cork GAA are delighted to announce that this summer from June 28th to July 2nd they will host the inaugural SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh “Performance Camp” for Hurlers and Footballers born in 2006 and 2007.

The primary goal of this fun based training camp is to expose the players to age appropriate “best practice” coaching across the four big pillars of performance including Hurling and Football Skills, Athletic Development, Performance Psychology and Health and Lifestyle Skills.

The Camp will have a particular focus on developing the core attacking and defending skills across Football and Hurling as well as speed, agility and power from an Athletic Development perspective. Performance Psychology Skills will concentrate on Leadership, Teamwork, Confidence and Emotional Control. While education on Recovery techniques, Sleep, Nutrition and Time Management will be central to the Health and Lifestyle aspect of the camp.

This fun based developmental training camp is designed by Aidan O’Connell, the High Performance Manager with Cork GAA, and will be delivered by expert Coaches and Practitioners who work across the various Intercounty Teams and Rebel Òg Squads.

Speaking at the launch of the SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh Performance Camp, Aidan O’Connell said

“I’m delighted to be launching the SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh “Performance Camp” for our younger players. This fun training camp will provide an exciting opportunity for these 14 and 15-year-old players to learn and develop the core performance skills that will add value to their development both on and off the pitch. Fortunately, we can draw from our various Intercounty set ups a selection of High Performance Coaches and Practitioners that will provided high quality coaching across the technical skills of the game, athletic development, performance psychology and health and lifestyle skills. We are excited to provide these committed young players with a unique experience that will help them on the road to optimising their potential”

Covid Update for Counties and Clubs

A chara,

As indicated in last Friday’s communication, we have now received clarity on a number of matters from the Irish Government in relation to the further relaxation of restrictions.

Information for Clubs

Adult Return to Training and Games (26 Counties only):

A reminder that from this Monday, May 10th Outdoor training is permitted at adult level in pods of a maximum of 15 people (including coaches) in the 26 Counties. However, games are not allowed, and indoor facilities must remain closed (exception: Toilet facilities).

From June 7th, and subject to the Public Health situation at the time, Club games will be permitted at all levels but must be played “behind closed doors”.

In the interim, we would remind all Clubs in the 26 Counties of the following:

  • Until May 10th, only training for underage teams (non-contact and in pods of 15) is permitted. “Underage teams” means any registered team at U-18 level or below.
  • All indoor facilities must remain closed (exception: toilet facilities).
  • Fundraising events on GAA property are not currently permitted.
  • Gym facilities must remain closed (exception: Senior Inter County players may use their relevant Club Gym for individual training as long as they are following the advice in the Inter County Return to Training and Play document)

Construction work We have received a number of queries in relation to whether construction work at club and county grounds can recommence – this has been permitted from May 4th last.

Fundraising Events Outdoor fundraising events on GAA property are not currently permitted in either jurisdiction. This includes drive in events (such as Drive in Bingo or Drive in Movies).  We await further clarification from governments and will provide a further update when available.

Information for Counties:

Inter County Challenge Matches Challenge matches at senior level only in both the 26 and 6 Counties can take place from next Monday, May 10th.

Minor/U20 Training and Return to Games Training for both 2020 and 2021 Minor and U20 squads can begin from next Monday, May 10th on a full contact basis. Games in these cohorts will be permitted from June 7th. In the coming days, the C.C.C.C. will publish a schedule for both the completion of 2020 competitions and dates for 2021 inter county competitions at Minor and U20.

Attendance of Backroom Teams/Additional Panel Members The matchday panel for 2021 will be limited to what is provided for in general rule – 26 players (Senior), 24 (Minor/U20). For safety purposes and in order to minimise covid risk, only these players will be granted entry to the controlled zone (Dressing Room and pitch side area). However, for the upcoming Allianz Leagues and Senior inter-county championship games, additional panel members can be accommodated in general viewing areas. Counties will be contacted in the coming days and asked to register the names of all playing members of their panels with the C.C.C.C.

As in 2020, a maximum of 14 additional backroom personnel only will be granted access to the venue and controlled zone.  The ultimate composition of this number is at each county’s discretion but must contain the County Chairperson and Secretary (or their nominees).

In total 40 persons per Team only are permitted access to the controlled zone (38 for Minor/U20) on match days. Additional players, outside of the match day 26, must accommodated elsewhere (i.e., general viewing areas).

Where on-site post-match catering is being provided, an additional two caterers may be granted access to the dressing rooms only, and once the half time interval has been completed.

Outside of the provisions above, and those allowable for media purposes, all games must remain behind “closed doors” for the moment and no spectators are permitted to attend.

For the Allianz Leagues, the Travelling County must forward a list of their full panel and nominated backroom personnel (maximum 14) to the Home County not later than noon on the Wednesday before a weekend game. The list should separately indicate the starting 15 players, 11 substitutes, the nominated backroom personnel (14) and the additional panel members that will be allowed access to the venue.

An official Match Day Team Sheet that can be completed for this purpose will shortly be circulated by our Player, Club and Games Administration Department.

Crossing county boundaries – The HSE in Cork and Kerry thank the GAA for its support of the vaccination roll-out.

THE HSE has thanked the GAA community in Cork and Kerry for their support for the Covid-19 vaccination roll-out.

Vaccinations are now underway across both counties of people aged between 60 and 69 who have registered at hse.ie or 1850 24 1850.

The GAA in both Cork and Kerry have pledged to support anyone who needs help with the registration process, and to make sure that all clubs across both counties have details of the online and phone registration options.

Kerry GAA County Board chairman Tim Murphy said:

“The GAA has been glad to help our communities in any way possible throughout the pandemic, and we will continue that support now that we’re moving to a new phase of the vaccination roll-out. We’ll be sharing details of how to register with all of our clubs in the hope that they will encourage their members to register when asked to do so.”

Cork GAA County Board Chair Marc Sheehan said:

“We have seen GAA facilities called into action throughout the pandemic as test centres, and there is no community which hasn’t been impacted by Covid-19. As we reach a new phase of the pandemic, we are proud to see several GAA facilities in Cork used as vaccination centres. The GAA is a key part of every community across both our counties and we will make sure that no member of our community who needs support in registering is left behind.”

Michael Fitzgerald, the Chief Officer of Cork Kerry Community Healthcare, thanked the GAA organisations in both counties for their ongoing support.

“All of our communities have had a difficult time during the crisis caused by Covid-19, and the GAA has played a central role in supporting those communities. We have had unstinting support from the GAA whenever we have needed. Not only have we had access to GAA facilities when needed, clubs and members have done huge work to make sure that everyone in their community is supported.

CEO of the South South West Hospital Group Gerry O’Dwyer said:

“We are very grateful for this ongoing support, and looking forward to a time when this vaccination programme will allow us all back to enjoying training, matches and the many activities enabled by the GAA which are so central to life in our communities.”
