Upcoming Online Club Officer Training Events

Club Officers and Volunteers across all 3 Associations are invited to register in advance for more upcoming online webinars from the suite of modules offered under the Club Leadership Development Programme. This training is coordinated by the GAA’s National Officer Development Committee. 

Already, 22 webinars have been held as part of the programme, with over 1,200 Officers participating in the online sessions up to now. Role-specific webinars have been held across the four provinces, supplemented by workshops on the Microsoft 365 package last week. 

The coming weeks see a diversification in the training offering to Club Officers and Volunteers, with live webinars available via the Microsoft Teams Platform on Volunteer Recruitment, Data Protection, Essential Communication Skills and for newly appointed Irish Language & Cultural Officers.  

There are also further live workshops on the various Microsoft 365 applications available to Club Officers. 

These sessions are targeted at both newly appointed and existing Club Officers and offer an interactive opportunity to all attendees to enhance their own officer experience, as well as disseminating essential information on topics critical to the effective running of a GAA, LGFA or Camogie Club, especially in these uncertain times.

Kingston and Coleman nominated for All-Stars

Cork hurlers Shane Kingston and Mark Coleman have been nominated for 2020 All-StarsNames on the list of hurling nominations for the PwC All-Stars announced today (Saturday).It is intended that the presentation of the PwC All-Star awards will take place late next month in a TV show that will be in line with Covid-19 restrictions and will be confirmed in due course.

Maguire nominated for All-Star

Cork football Captain Ian Maguire has been nominated for an All-Star award.

Players from 10 different counties are represented in the final list of football nominations that make up the PwC All-Stars announced today.

It is intended that the presentation of the PwC All-Star awards will take place late next month in a TV show that will be in line with Covid-19 restrictions and will be confirmed in due course.

Legendary Cork football manager Eamonn Ryan passes away

Cork GAA would like to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Eamonn Ryan who past away today.

A player and coach of his home clubs’ of Glenville and Watergrasshill, Eamonn went on to play with Cork football at both Cork Juniors and Seniors grades. In 1966 at 25, he was a key player on the Cork senior football team that defeated Kerry for the first time since 1957.

He played Railway Cup for Munster in 1966 and 1967 and won two Sigerson Cups with UCC in 1966 and 1967. He captained the College in the 1967 Cork senior football final and replay where Beara claimed the title.
As a teacher he entered many teams in Sciath na Scol competitions with Watergrasshill National School.
Eamonn had grá for coaching, where he coached different clubs to win County honors in Cork.
Eamonn claimed a Munster senior football title as Cork manager in 1983 and from 1990 to 1994 he was coach to Cork minor football teams who won 3 Munster titles and 2 All Irelands. In recent times (2016 – 2018) he was a selector with the Cork senior footballers.
As Manager of the Cork Ladies Football team, he achieved incredible success and became a national name. From 2004 to 2015, he coached the Cork Ladies Football team to an incredible 10 All Ireland senior championship titles and 6 National League titles.

 

 

 

 

Cork Minor Football & Hurling Announcement

Cork GAA is please to confirm the management teams for both the Cork Football and Hurling Minor teams for 2021.

Following the recent appointment of Bobbie O’ Dwyer as a selector with the Cork Senior Football team, an appointments committee was set up to recommend a new Minor Football manager. Following their recommendation, the County Executive have confirmed Michael O’Brien (Ballincollig) as manager, with selectors Daniel Cronin (St Mary’s), Gary Sheehan (Carrigtwohill), Martin O’ Brien (Clonakilty) and Donnacha O’Connor (Ballydesmond). All members of the management team were involved with development squads at Fé15 and Fé16 level in 2020 and have been approved for a 2-year term.

In October 2019 it was announced that Noel Furlong (Carrigtwohill) would be appointed Cork Minor Hurling Manager in 2021. His selectors will be David Dorgan (Fr. O’Neills), Ger O’Regan (St. Finbarr’s), Niall McCarthy (Carrigtwohill) and Wesley O’ Brien (Carrigaline). This management team has been approved for a 1-year term as they progress from Fé15 and Fé16 level in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

New County Cathaoirleach Marc Sheehan welcomed the appointment of the new Fé17 Football Management team and wished them every success for their term at the helm. He acknowledged the involvement of the new mentors with previous development squad panels. He also paid tribute to the work of the most successful outgoing management who achieved great success in this grade and captured the All Ireland title in fine style against Galway in 2019. Furthermore, he wished the Fé17 Hurling Management under manager Noel Furlong every success as they continue their progress with this group
