Cork Camogie win All-Ireland Title

Congratulations to Cork Camogie on winning the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship title, defeating Galway by 2-14 to 0-19 in a thrilling final at Croke Park to secure All-Ireland glory.

Cork are All-Ireland Senior Camogie champions once again after a stunning second-half display saw the Rebels overturn a two-point interval deficit and edge Galway in a dramatic Glen Dimplex final at Croke Park.

In front of a record attendance of 33,419, Ger Manley’s side produced a performance full of character, composure and attacking brilliance to capture Cork’s 31st All-Ireland senior camogie title and avenge last year’s final defeat to the Tribeswomen.

Galway looked the sharper team during a tense opening half and deservedly led 0-9 to 0-7 at the break. Cork struggled to find fluency against a well-organised Galway defence, with Sorcha McCartan the Rebels’ only scorer from play before half-time. Amy O’Connor kept Cork in touch with a series of accurate frees, but Galway’s movement and work-rate gave them the edge.

The match changed completely after the restart.

Cork emerged with renewed intensity and drew level within minutes through points from Emma Murphy and Laura Hayes. From there, the Rebels began to dominate the middle third, with Hayes immense around the centre and Ashling Thompson driving the tempo.

The breakthrough arrived in the 40th minute. Saoirse McCarthy gathered possession, burst through the Galway defence and rifled a superb shot to the net, becoming the first player to score a goal against Galway in this year’s championship.

Six minutes later, Cork struck again. A long puck-out from Amy Lee caused chaos in the Galway defence, and Orlaith Cahalane showed brilliant control before finishing emphatically to the net. Suddenly Cork were five points clear and in complete control.

McCartan continued to shine, finishing with 0-4 from play, while O’Connor added crucial frees as Cork stretched their advantage to 2-14 to 0-14 entering the closing stages.

Galway refused to surrender and mounted a fierce late rally, scoring five unanswered points to leave just a single point between the sides deep into stoppage time. Goalkeeper Sarah Healy came forward for a final free, but her effort sailed over the bar rather than under it, and the final whistle sparked scenes of joy among the Cork players and supporters.

This was a victory built on resilience and the impact of a new-look Cork team. Despite the absence of several experienced players from last year’s campaign, the Rebels produced one of their best halves of camogie in recent seasons.

Laura Hayes was outstanding, Sorcha McCartan rose magnificently to the occasion, and the goals from McCarthy and Cahalane proved decisive.

For Cork, this is a third All-Ireland title in four seasons and another unforgettable day in red at Croke Park, as captain Méabh Cahalane lifted the O’Duffy Cup to crown the Rebels champions of Ireland once more.

2026 Minor Star Football Team of the Year and Minor Star Football Player of the Year

The 2026 Electric Ireland GAA Minor Football Championship will be remembered as a season of outstanding success, culminating in an All-Ireland title and major individual recognition for the young Rebels.

Electric Ireland GAA Minor Star Football Team of the Year

Electric Ireland, proud sponsor of the Electric Ireland GAA Minor Championships, has announced the 2026 Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Team of the Year and the Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year following another thrilling championship campaign.

Cork were one of the standout teams of the season. The Rebels produced an impressive performance in the All-Ireland semi-final, overcoming a talented Derry side despite conceding two early goals and showing the character that would define their campaign.

That resilience was on full display again in the final against defending champions Tyrone at St Conleth’s Park in Newbridge. Trailing 1-13 to 0-7 with 39 minutes played, Cork mounted a remarkable comeback, scoring an unanswered 1-5. A crucial goal from Carrigaline’s Eoghan Ahern sparked the revival as the Rebels surged to their first All-Ireland minor football title in seven years.

Reflecting Cork’s championship triumph, seven Rebels have been selected on the 2026 Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Team of the Year:

  • Rory Twohig (Kilmeen)

  • Aaron O’Sullivan (Glanmire)

  • Éanna Lynch (Ballincollig)

  • Kieran O’Shea (Urhan)

  • Eoghan Ahern (Carrigaline)

  • Joe Miskella (Ballincollig)

  • Tom Whooley (Clonakilty)

The county’s dominance is further underlined by the announcement that Joe Miskella has been named the 2026 Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year.

The Ballincollig forward was a driving force behind Cork’s All-Ireland success, combining leadership, work-rate and scoring power throughout the campaign. He delivered a captain’s performance in the final, kicking two vital two-pointers and helping to inspire one of the great minor championship comebacks.

For Cork football, the awards are recognition of an exceptional group of players and management who have brought the All-Ireland title back to the county and provided exciting hope for the future of the Rebels.

Imokilly beat UCC in Championship College/Divisions Semi-Final

Imokilly produced a powerful second-half display to defeat UCC by 4-26 to 0-19 in their Premier SHC divisional clash in Midleton on Wednesday night. The east Cork side made a clinical start despite playing against a strong breeze, with early goals from Dungourney pair Jack Leahy and Cillian O’Callaghan helping them into a 2-11 to 0-12 half-time lead. UCC stayed in touch through the scoring of Hugh O’Connor, but Imokilly took complete control after the restart.

A run of six unanswered points stretched the advantage before O’Callaghan struck his second goal of the evening. Leahy added another major as Imokilly’s pace, movement and long-range shooting proved too much for the college side. Eleven different players got on the scoresheet for the divisional outfit, underlining their attacking depth. The victory sends Imokilly through to face the winners of Muskerry and Seandún for a place in the championship proper.
